Look, more guys were hired! Heelfan, I wasn't able to correct your mistake because this whole process is pretty much automated without any input from yours truly besides the files you give me. So, enjoy your new head coach and hopefully everyone is very careful when it comes to throwing contracts around.

Tomorrow night is the 3rd and final staff hiring stage.

that's BS. you could at least told me something before you simmed so I could bid on him again. I haven't even exported because I was waiting to hear something. I'm sure if you lost one of the best coaches in the league you wouldn't say "enjoy your new coach".

The cpu fucked it up. I offered him a contract for DC. 100% positive.

Correct. Once a coach accepts your offer for the position he is offered, you can no longer make any offers for that position. You'll have to wait until next season. There is no fix for it, except to be more meticulous next season when you make your offers.

To Heelfan - Sorry for my perceived callousness regarding your head coaching problem. As SoobieTech said, it appears there's no correction for it and there wouldn't have been a correction for it even if I had let you know, since once you've signed a HC you can't sign another one during the same season's staff hiring phase.

To Jistic - I have no idea why it works now and didn't before. Maybe you didn't have the latest and greatest league files before? Otherwise I don't have an explanation.

Please recognize that since this is our first offseason and I haven't exactly gone through this process before, there are going to be bumps and bruises along the way. My hope is that with our resident FOF experts aboard, those bumps and bruises will be minimized. But rest assured that all fledgling leagues experience growing pains and I'm trying to minimize them.

fuck that. I was cautious. I know what I did. I checked it numerous times before I sent my offer. My entire season is dicked up now with a guy coaching who isn't even a head coach. I stated there was a problem right after the sim, But since everyone is in such a hurry to get on with the show, no ones gives a rats ass.

Well hey, at least you're being reasonable about it. Here's the problem: I take everyone's exports and import them. After that happens, I advance the stage, save the game, and export the new league files. At no point in that process do I look at the transactions, or box scores, and attempt to rationalize what you do with your teams, so I don't notice minute things like who one team decides to sign as a head coach. Now the stage is advanced, the sim is complete, and the sim won't let you sign two head coaches during one offseason.

What would you like me to do?

The only logical explanation is that it might be a bug in the game. If I were you, Heelfan, I would go over to the FOFC forum and find out if anyone else has seen this issue during the staff hiring period. Explain to them that you changed the coaches default position during the offer, but when the stage was run it appears that the default position showed up again.

There isn't anything we can do about it now. We have been delayed over a week already from the original schedule. The sims have been run. It's a harsh reality, but in the big picture, it is only one season in this league, which could go for hundreds of seasons, depending on how long we all live.

I've played dozens if not hundreds of FOF single player seasons. I'm in 4 FOF MP (counting this one) leagues, although many of them have only gone through 0 or 1 off-seasons. I've never seen a bug like this with coach signings. I've also never seen this bug reported on FOFC where hundreds of people have posted about the game including a bug thread. It doesn't mean that a bug doesn't exist, but I suspect it is improbable. However, I have accidently offered a coach the wrong position before, and I believe (but am not 100% sure) that the jobs offered are mouse wheel scroll sensitive and it can be somewhat easy to make that mistake.

I just feel that there was a serious lack of effort to look into the problem. Pretty sure if it was Sheriks team this happened too, it would of been looked into more. But yeah, the season was already delayed once so God forbid the sim was pushed back one day to look into it.
