Rando what's your analysis of our wc game?
Looking at the final stats for this team, our 10-6 record seems out of place considering how terrible our defense is. We are 28th in yards per rush allowed, 31st in yards per pass attempt, 27th in total yards allowed. We were dead last in forcing the other team to punt or turn the ball over, but somehow only 17th in points allowed. I really don't know how that works, they can move the ball at will, never turn the ball over or have to punt, but somehow don't score that many points. I can only assume this is a result of us playing South Maryland twice as well as beating up on a couple of other bad teams early in the season.
Offensively the only things we did well were run the ball, find our selves in 3rd and short after running the ball(1st in the league in fewest yards to go on third down) and convert those third downs by running the ball (2nd in the league in 3rd down conversion %). Yet even our running game was maddeningly inconsistent. Yes we set a new league record for most rushing yards by a team this year, beating our own record from 2021, but there were a number of games where we were just completely shut down on the ground.
This was bad news because we need to run the ball to win. Our 10 wins this year we averaged 228 yards per game on the ground. In our 6 losses we averaged just 97. Against Brooklyn this year we managed exactly 145 yards on 62 carries over two games. This is exactly the same number of yards we managed in our worst performance in a win (against Utah in week 16) on exactly twice as many carries.
Looking over Brooklyn's season, three of their five losses this year came to playoff teams (Boston, Utah and Morgantown) while the other two came against winning teams who came just one game short of a playoff spot (Phoenix and Charlotte).
All of these teams have good, if not great offenses. Of the five only Boston is ranked outside the top five in points scored (9th) and of the five only Morgantown is ranked outside the top five in yards gained (12th). This is not surprising as, Brooklyn ranked quite well in both points (2nd) and yards (8th)
Of the five teams who beat the Hitmen, only Utah held them considerably under their average score (29.1) for the year. The Bees held Brooklyn to just 7 points, the other four only managed to hold them to an average of 28.75.
Other than Utah, the team who held the Hitemen to the next lowest score was us, in week 15. We managed to give up only 19 points than week, with 6 of those coming off a late pick 6 in the game's final minutes. Of course that was against an injury depleted Brooklyn team. Lucky for us the are still hurting.Last edited by rando; 05-23-2014, 08:41 PM.

We started out strong but there was no way we were going to hang with you in a shoot out. Eventually we just got buried beneath all those passing yards. There might just be a top to bottom rework of this defense coming up in the off season. Our cohesion is already terrible on that side of the ball so I don't need to worry about blowing the whole side up if necessary.
Good luck going forward.

The game went the way i expected it to go which is our offense overwhelming your D and pushing for you guys to catch up and compete in a shootout. I am going to call QB Albert Garner "DR. Garner" cause he just performed surgery on your D with a 154.8 QBR game going for 23/29 338 yards and 4TDs with 0 ints. That was a pretty amazing game by him. Hopefully we can catch the magic from your 2031 run and make it all the way to the bowl.
See you next year rando. This BKL vs CAM rivalry is starting to get interesting.
