Don't forget to take yourself off auto, unless that's on purpose.
Goodness, I hope I wasn't on the clock that whole time. If I was I am very sorry. I normally have a list that fires off automatically. (that's why I am on auto now).
In baseball, outside of the top 3 or 5 in each draft it's pretty much a roll of the dice. Football usually has a bit more talent than a baseball draft, but because there isn't any sort of minor league system in which to develop tons of players over a long period of time the draft becomes the beat way to develop a team.
I really don't understand football drafts. Is it really that much difference in quality between a 1st and 2nd round pick?
Yeah, the drop off in "sure thing" prospects after the cream of the class -- which may be the first 15 guys, or 20, or into the 30s -- can be pretty steep.
However, the drop off in bonus committed + cap cost is also pretty steep, too. It starts dropping rapidly after the first few picks and a mid-to-late Round 2 is way less investment than 20 picks earlier.
The other thing is the random bust factor that seems increased in this version of the game.
Does S Sam Tate look any good? Can he play CB? This is really only my second draft and I'm not in love with how there are only these random vague bars to go by and zero college stats.
