Why does everyone want the pre season sped up? Next you'll want the regular season sped up as well. I liked the 2 games a week, gave me time to review my team and what not. With every night, I'll probably miss a few sims here and there.

Yah I'm not sure why everyone is always in such a big hurry around here.

I personally want the schedule sped up to get to the games that matter.

Of course, I will gladly go along with the majority (or Skerik's) decision.

The suggestion was brougth forth only as obiter dictum.

              Yes yes.

Not that we have to follow other leagues' leads, but as a point of reference, I'm in three other leagues. All of them speed up the preseason. The *slowest* does one sim a day during that time. The fastest turns off injuries, sims Weeks 1-3 in one shot, does a midweek the next day, then sims Weeks 4 and 5 on the third day.

I was at first against the thought of turning off injuries for the preseason but now I think it's a must as it just seems really unfair for the injuries to ruin the season (in the preseason) --- BTW flu epidemic in PUNX --- 10 people questionable =D> =D>

Injuries are part of the game. I would be against turning them off. It would be anti-immersion, IMHO, YMMV...blah

I wasn't necessarily suggesting that we do that here. Based on the atmosphere of this league, I don't think it would be appropriate. I was just giving it as a point of reference that one group of very experienced FOFers is willing to turn them off to get through the most boring part of the season faster.

From my experience, nothing hurts a league more than lulls in the action. People tend to lose interest a little more when nothing that they perceive to be meaningful is happening. I think for a league with a lot of new people, every preseason game should be played. It helps people who are still learning how to game plan. (Although I still STRONGLY suggest that people should be trying game plans out in single player. You can learn much more quickly that way.) However, speeding it up helps those who are bored to tears during that time. If you don't speed it up, you end up spending more than 2 1/2 weeks (real-time) on games that don't matter. That's long enough for some to lose a lot of interest.

Just for the record, I'm not against the idea of speeding up the pre-season. I just don't think it makes sense to do it over a holiday weekend when a lot of people are going to be away.

On that note, I'm off to Maine. See you guys on Monday.

That makes complete sense. I had forgotten about that, since I am not traveling.
