Anyone have any good links, or game planning tips? I'd like to be a little more 'hands on' with my team week to week but I don't know where to begin.

ditto that. Would be nice if someone had a few schemes out there. GridIron Greta named my 2nd year RB the 3rd best in the league and i'd like for him to be my focal point this year.

LOL, looks like everyone's pretty much in the same boat.

          Since this got bumped....

Is anyone actually taking a hands-on approach to their team this year? And if so, how's that working out for you? There's a lot under the hood in this game when it comes to gameplanning, but most people don't really explore a lot of it for two reasons. One being that in a 16-week multiplayer league, the price for gameplanning failure is pretty steep and unforgiving so people are unwilling to experiment much. And the other is that the gameplanning features aren't really advertised or talked about much by the people who actually make and market the product.

As usually goes in these types of leagues though, they are what you make them. If people don't want to explore the gameplanning, then obviously there's not a lot to do from week to week besides make sure you have enough players at each position to cover injuries, etc. But for those who are willing to explore under the hood, there's quite a bit there. And it actually works now, as opposed to last season.

I'm changing my game plans around every week, based on the opposition. But that's nothing new. ;)

I'm still tweaking and monkeying with pretty much every game planning aspect available, for good or bad. I don't know how much is luck and how much is my outstanding football acumen (the throwy guy tries to pitch the ball to the catchy guy while the blocky guys stand around), but it's fun.

I'm having to gameplan much more this season. . .different styles, i.e. smashmouth run the damn ball, versus the west coast style gameplans on offense. Defensively the gameplanning has not been that successful. . .trying to find a good blend for the cover two, but it hasn't panned out in any league. . .

I have used probably four to five different offensive gameplans. Two were throwaways, several keepers. The first good gameplan was against Wes's Monsters and Utah's Bees. . .the throwaways. .. North Liberty for sure.

I've found a personal flaw in my gameplanning, and that is a tendency to go deep successively for three downs when my team reaches the fifty yard line. Instead of moving the ball in short passes or small chunks of running, the qb takes off and throws deeply for three straight passes and then we punt. That's a flaw that has been taken care of. I'm a bit shy about putting zeroes in the boxes, some residual memory of the 2k scare I guess, but I am learning a bit more.

Easiest way to start gameplanning is to hit recommend and then tweak from there. If you wanna attack the right side of the line, then go with the Strong formations on the run and run left. Simple logic actually.

I agree with Hoosier. Earlier in the season, I was a bit reluctant (being new to the game and all) to make any changes. But now, I've tweaked here and there on our offense and defense and have found pretty decent results. For other newbies though, I suggest you take Skydog's early season recommendation and fiddle with the single player. It does wonders towards understanding how gameplanning translates to on field execution.

I've been creating gameplans over the last two season against types of teams. I tweak them slightly to fit each team, but I have like 6 set gameplans that I use as the base then tweak to fit.
