  • Cap/Roster question

Hey guys I'm the new GM in Anchorage, and I have a couple questions.

    I'm up against the cap(420K)
    I had 46 active players
I released a player to free up some cap room, leaving me now with 45 active.
This enabled me to offer two contracts for the 2 roster spots the game reuires me to fill. Now when I exported I got a message:
You are 2 positions short, and you only have 45 active players
Question 1) will the game possibly sign these players or just ignore my offers and randomly sign 2 guys.
Question 2) Will the game make a random player cut so that we'll have enough money to fill the roster.

If the game signs the 2 I offered I will be fine, I'm just ot sure it will..

If those two players don't sign the game will cut players and sign others in order to keep you under the cap and have a full team.

Question: I am looking at a player I want to trade for. His current salary is 8 mill and bonus is 7 mill, next year salary 9 mill bonus 5 mill. I want to make sure I am correct before I make a offer. If the trade is accepted I pick up his current salary, the team he is with now the bonus is a cap hit to them. Is this correct or do I pay his bonus also? I am willing to take on his salary, but if I pay the bonus too he gets little to expensive for me.

Yeah, those messages don't take into account your current offers. If they go through, it'll be fine. The logic applies only when the games are run -- after I import the stage files and any transactions take place.

@ira, you will pick up any salary on his deal only, and his old team will take a $7M cap penalty this year, and a $5M cap penalty next year.
