Yes sir! That's the plan. If it works, I'm gonna have a tandem of stud CBs for a decade!
I actually was prepared to skip the QB for Money...had the QB as my fallback if Money (unlikely) went first.

1.1 - Las Vegas - QB Alonzo Mandel
1.2 - New Orleans - S Sawyer Money
No surprises here. The rest of the top 5 people are probably happy those DL players fell in their laps.
Dutch clearly took Money in order to move to CB. Hopefully he can slim down enough to get a 95%+ transfer to CB.New Orleans Stingrays GM

If you can get cap clean otherwise, I don't think you are necessarily stuck for 5 years. Definitely not for 5. He has a 5-year contract. By the start of his 4th offseason -- after 3 years of play -- cutting him will have the same effect as cutting him in the 5th year.
And you *could* cut him earlier; it'd mean taking on a cap penalty in the teens, but gets him off the book earlier. Teams have survived cap penalties greater than that.Float likeabutterflysting likeabee.

Another thing to note about him is that he will be sacked a lot. Maybe he'll have a 85-90 QB Rating throughout his career, but the QB Rating does not include sacks in it, so you have to work that into your equation as well. 36+ sacks a season is a lot of lost yards. Worse still, with many pass rushers you have a big chance of fumbling as well on a sack. So, turnovers and negative yardage plays are a negative for a QB like Mandel. I don't think he's awful, but I also think he's not worthy of a 1.1 pick, nor even a top 15 pick.
Now, as with all draft picks, he is untested, untried, and who knows what's going to happen with him. He could be a Ryan Leaf or an Andrew Luck... But going off the information we have about him, I'd say he's basically a better than average QB. Is that worthy of a top pick in the draft? Unfortunately for Las Vegas, he was the best QB available in a bad QB class.GM of the South Maryland Maulers 2034-2040

Maybe what I said doesn't translate well into Spanish, Shark... I don't know. Solecismic and Intelligence is only part of the equation.
I had a 1.1 pick in another league a few years ago. He had a 47 Solecismic and his intelligence was in the upper teens (don't remember the exact number). His read defense was mid 40s. He was never on the top 10 in Greta's (The Sage of the Gridiron in FOF7) Most Careful QBs, throughout his career. What made him good was that he was rarely sacked more than 20 times a season (with an average offensive line that was geared towards running the football). He was in the top 3rd in INT, but I attribute that more to my offense than to his ability. Just look at Prescott in his first two seasons. His AI isn't that great, and it was even lower because it was not fully developed, and he did a pretty good job not throwing INT.
Overall, Mandel will never see the Most Careful QB list, and will be an average QB, UNLESS he has a great offensive scheme, 3 very good WRs, and a good running game. But, if he has all that, I can plug in a variety of QBs to get the same results.
My last Spanish classes were 25 years ago, and my wife is Chinese so I learned Chinese, and forgot most of my 6 years of Spanish. Otherwise, I'd be happy to translate all this for you.GM of the South Maryland Maulers 2034-2040
