Gainesville Gaels (5-1) vs. Columbus Catfish (6-1)

Imo, this is the biggest game so far this season. In week one, Gainesville upset the Catfish 26-20. In that game, time of possesion and pressure from the Gainesville's defensive line was key. Gainesville had the ball for almost 10 minutes longer than Columbus and pressured QB Corey Lincoln 8 times.

Since this game, Columbus has won 6 straight and Lincoln has thrown 16 TDs. Starting RB Emmanuel Jamison rebounded from his rough start (18 car for 11 yards in the Gainesville game) by running for a combined 591 yds in his last 5 games. Jamison is currently 6th in the OSFL in rushing and headed for a second staright 1000 yd season. J.R. Sierra leads OSFL in receiving yards and will be a tough matchup for Gainesville CBs Donavan Wallace and rookie Ed Austin. Even though Columbus' defense has been known to give up points, the team is lead by one of the best LB in the league, Karl Benjamin. Many were shocked when Benjamin accepted a 1 yr, 8 million dollar contract from Columbus instead of longer and more lucrative deals from other teams. Benjamin has more than earned that contract by leading the team in tackles (51) and being a leader on the field.

Gainesville shocked the football world with their Week 1 win. The Gaels were 8 point underdogs at home and that seemed to motivate them. After the first win, the Gaels ran off 4 of their last 5 but have yet to win a road game. This will be a huge test for this young team as they travel to hostile Columbus. The Gaels are your typical ball control team. Their offense focuses on short passes and the run (with little sucess before last weeks 100 yd game by KC Jones). QB Carl Reese is your typical game manager who makes very few mistakes (9 tds and only 4 ints for the season). RB KC Jones returns to the starting lineup after getting beched in week 6. The benching seemed to motivate Jones as he had his first 100 yds game of the season. However, he was very upset about the benching and expressed to the press doubts about his future with the Gaels. The Gales D is all about putting pressure on the QB. Their starting D Line has a total of 14.5 sacks and constantly puts pressure on the QB. DE Broderick Cherbet has 5 sacks and is coming off a career high 11 tackles. This team also has one of the most balanced D's in the league with 11 players having over 20 tackle.

    Prediction: Columbus 21, Gainesville 17

    Poppycock.
