You can have the best OL of all time, but if they're in the wrong protection, the QB is dead.

My beloved Tennessee Volunteers had the exact same problem for the 2014 season.

Everyone on the OLine had never started for a D1 School. Super young - and the QB we had was a friggen statue. Well, he got sacked - like 30 times in 7 or so games. Sacks were even given up to an FCS school!!! Too many, to say the least.

Then, he got injured. Enter Joshua Dobbs - a very smart sophmore with wheels. He instantly improved the OLine, and if it wasn't for just poor defensive play in the first half there might have been a chance to upset Alabama. Needless to say, he will allow the OLine to pick up some slack thanks to his feet for this upcoming season.

Yup. He finally learned after 20 years how to run a football team, by letting others do it. Jimmy did it to start with and he won 3 SB's in 4 years. Jerry wanted the credit and ran the show and the team went .500 over the next decade and a half. Signing washed up vets, trading tons of picks for players like Roy Williams.

It's amazing what you can do as a football team with 3 pro bowl OL.

They excoriated Dallas for drafting Frederick in Round 1 too (with some people. if I recall correctly, saying he was even 4th round talent) but from what I hear he's turned out pretty well.

Well, around here, there is a buzz that the Cowboys might be relevant again. They seem to have a short dynasty every 20 years or so.

Still a reach, but it's clearly worked out for them. It's the sort of thing FOFers do all the time though. The Cowboys probably saw that blocking strength bar WAY over his bench score and knew he'd pop.

I honestly think they got super lucky last year in picking up Rolando McClain and getting him to suit up, especially after Sean Lee got injured. That right there probably saved their season.

                haha

I'm just glad the Jets didn't risk doing something retarded in the draft again and just took Leonard Williams. Looking forward to the Redskins' tears when they find out how good he is and how Scherff is just decent.
