Talk about an ugly win. 3 interceptions, 2 fumbles lost, yet we manage to barely win.

I don't know what to do anymore. Port City is an embarassement to the OSFL. I know that the trade deadline has passed but before the draft, I'm having a fire sale. I'm getting rid of everyone worth a damn.

There will be a change at QB next week. Kitchen's line from Week 9.

      A freaking 1.9 QB rating?

        Wow. What a game.

The first three quarters I couldn't do anything right. Penalties, interceptions, fumbles, missed tackles...

Down 21-0, heading late into the 3rd quarter, Portland brings in backup Herman Alabaso off the bench, and things start to click. Alabaso leads Portland to a late score, 21-7.

Two straight 70+ yard drives, and the score is now 21-20.

Wally Garner added a score with 1:40 left to take a 28-20 lead. Punx couldn't do anything on the final drive.

I was so frustrated through the first 3.5 quarters. Shocked. Amazed. Surprised I won.

7-2 headed into the bye and 2 weeks from our first big showdown against Vegas.

Pearl Harbor played well, but our second half defense won it for us. Good to get a win over a division rival, even moreso one that we hadn't beaten yet.

Only 2 home games the rest of the way, so we're about to find out what kind of team we are on the road- hopefully the win this week was some indication of that.

            Phoenix hands Los Alamos a loss. . . GG Wes. . . .

A return to basics in gameplanning helped us a lot. . . the o-line was finally put in a position to pass protect and only allowed one sack. . .

            Next up, PORT CITY!

Your wideouts couldn't get open. My secondary is good, but not great, but he didn't have anyone to throw to. Even one good target would help, because Furnas is good at TE. You can see how Viola bails us out over and over again, even when double covered. He was almost my whole offense last night. It'll take a little time, but Gerhardt will get better and Furnas will be more effective if he has some wide outs getting doubled. That was my impression, if it helps any.

This game makes no sense. My DB's are rated 73, 61, 71, 69 yet I have the worst pass defense in the league no matter how I game plan. Auto, manual, conservative, aggressive. It's like their ability doesn't matter at all.

Again I don't get how a defense with no changes in personnel or coaching and better ratings due to maturing is 8 ppg worse than the previous year.

Are you getting beat by slot receivers, backs and tight ends? It doesn't look like you have much help from your linebackers or your nickle and dime backs. FWIW. A good third cornerback and an SLB with some good coverage skills would help, I think.

Maybe I needed my #1 CB  -- Who is Alabaso? and how did he throw 3 TDs ? Quirky game... I'm losing a chance at the playoffs...

The Bayhawks traveled to play the Charlotte Cougars and lost by the final score of 19-13. Penalties and lack of offensive production once again lead to our demise. We didn't have an answer for their running game either. We are 0-9 and still haven't found the win column. We travel to play the Pearl Harbor Defenders (3-6) next week and need to find our way to the win column...

me too Jistic. On paper, I have one of the best secondaries in the league, yet, during the game, I constantly give up big plays and and almost dead last in 3rd down defense.

Keep in mind you have one of the best secondaries according to YOUR scouts. Its possible that your scouts have those players overrated.

One thing I think alot of us are doing is thinking of this as a video game instead of a football simulation. In Madden or 2k, if Champ Bailey is rated 95, then he performs like a great CB. Those games dont account for Scout error etc. FOF is more like real life meaning that your scout may think that your CB is one of the best in the league but the player may not perform like that on gameday.

I would buy any and all explanations IF...IF this happened last year as well.

Last year we had one of the best defenses in the league. And ALL the players are back a year older, a year better. ALL the coaches are back. There is nothing different. I've done it all with gameplanning. I've gone auto, I've done tweaking.

I'm going to do some more digging and see if these ratings even mean much.
