Single Player Question

I am playing a lot of single player as KC and entering the 2022 Staff Draft. So far I have drafted 32 in every season but 3. The highest I have drafted is 29th. I heard that how much money you have to sign players effects where you draft. Well I have had the very least a couple of season & I have been in top 7-8 couple seasons. My win - Loss is avg finishing near last some seasons and winning divisions some. Been in middle about half the time.

I hate drafting last as my Coordinators and asst coach is always getting taken from me lol. Not sure why and how to move up in that draft. Then again I am getting too see what is happening with a lot of different coordinators.

I think it's based on your income statement P/L rank.

I thought you could extend your Coordinator's contract in their final year of their contract so that they couldn't get poached.

I thought they could if are being promoted like to HC only or asst to coordinator. I did it to other teams before. However about 2 weeks ago my computer crashed and I had to do a factory reset. After that I reinstalled game and started the new season. So I was maybe thinking it glitched 1 file maybe.

Blowing money on players (ie. spending all your cap) can negatively affect your Staff Draft position because it potentially brings down how much profit your team makes.

Profit and loss, as Nem mentioned, is what determines where you are in the Staff Draft.

Teams that win over long periods of time tend to make more money and have a better shot at high Staff Draft picks. That should be your goal imho.

The extension process happens prior to the draft, so if you extend your coordinators, they don't get poached. As far as I'm aware, they can only get poached when in the final season of their contract.

It would make no sense to have a game function to extend the coaches contract to only get him poached anyway.

OK I will make sure I am paying closer attention, sometimes I get in hurry and forget like franchise tag. So I am guessing, thought I extended them and didn't.
