  • anyone play in a Historic League ??

Just curious. Seems like it would be fun.

I run one. But it's not everyone's cup of tea. Based on the WFL and USFL, with real players. We'll be taking over the NFL 1987 draft, for example, next season.

http://www.sadera.com/ufl/ - We're full now, but have openings from time to time.

I also have a team in the HFL. The problem I had with historical leagues is that the players wind up on teams you don't remember them. It's weird for me to see my boyhood idols from the Redskins and Patriots playing for the Cowboys and the Jets or other teams. Larry Brown should be a Redskin, dammit! I don't know how you'd manage something like that, but there's a couple of guys in my UFL league that run everyday historical leagues with the original rosters intact. I don't know how the GAFL does it, but that looks interesting, too.

With the UFL, I did a lot of research on the old defunct teams of the 70's and 80's and their rosters and created a player file based on what those rosters might look like if the teams survived beyond 1985, and then became the league of choice for rookies after 1986. 95% of the players in the league actually played on one of those USFL or WFL teams - for example, Herschel Walker is the beast of the east for the New Jersey Generals, just like when Trump bought them. It's been a blast so far. (If I say so myself.) Wess, Hoosier, and Julio are also in it, so they could give to perhaps a less biased opinion.

      The league is OUTSTANDING...

...with the exception of Cotton and Hoosier being in it.

I'm lobbying to have Cotton be a non-owner Commissioner without access to the forums :) Right now I have one signature on the petition. Sure, its from the lady behind the deli counter at my local Pick and Mix, but still, it's a start.

Hoosier...well, that's another story. I don't know how he got my home address but he keeps sending saucy boudoir pictures of himself surrounded by dozens of cats.

Well Wes, you said you weren't getting any pussy ......cats. .

        so. .

The league is outstanding. . . .nothing much changed from the competition standards from there to here in the OSFL. . ..my teams still rule the division, Wes is still trying to figure FOF out, and Cotton's team is good, but not quite good enough. Julio's team in Detroit is burning rubber. .. AND Cotton forgot Al, Aef207, if I got the numbers right, who is in the same Division with me and the Blitz. He plays as the Pittsburgh Maulers with Mike Rozier. Does a good job with very little.

Now, the UFL will be going into the 1987 draft with historical files, meaning that the premise will be the UFL and NFL will be vying for names you remember so well. .. Jim Harbaugh just to name one. . .

I forget Al was in the OSFL. Probably because there's no team in Steel City yet. :)

I imagine it would be strange seeing players on teams they never played for in real life. If there is ever an opening, let me know !! :D

I'm so uncoordinated sometimes that I hit edit when I mean quote and vice versa.
