Some interesting thoughts in this thread, but let's all keep our enormous internet penes in our pants as we discuss them. Fighting over a fictional simulation football game aside....

Keep in mind that SkyDog said that the game was, basically, flat out broken last year in terms of how your gameplanning and the skills of your players translated to on-field performance. So I wouldn't hold last season up as the gold standard of how your teams should be playing, because this season is likely much more indicative of their actual playing level.

I know it's frustrating to have the game change up on you after the first season with a pretty substantial patch, but at least we only got one year into the league before they patched the AI to how it should be working. It seems like there was a lot more frustration with regard to gameplanning and playcalling last season than there is now, but I know from experience that it's frustrating to see the makeup of your team change for the worse due to a patch.

Wrong. Landry had three caught against him and defended one. Neal Truitt had three caught against him. That's seven passes for the whole game. Viola had eight targets. Quintero six. That's 14 passes.

Who was defending the other seven? Not your hotshot DBs. They weren't even in the play half the time I was throwing to JUST MY TOP TWO WRs... There is no coverage underneath when I'm throwing short - quick outs or drags underneath across the middle. Especially when you're in zone coverage. I threw one, just one, deep pass (that your corners would HAVE to cover) the whole game and my QB nailed a 120+ passer rating anyway. Even with a pick!

"This game makes no sense. My DB's are rated 73, 61, 71, 69 yet I have the worst pass defense in the league no matter how I game plan."

My point is that there's more to pass defense than having four highly rated DBs. They have no help. Why does that not "make sense"?

I'm not trying to be a dick. I was trying to offer some advice as someone who's won a few titles and was trying to help you answer a question that was bugging you: "My DB's are rated 73, 61, 71, 69 yet I have the worst pass defense in the league no matter how I game plan."

Fuck it. I'll shut up now and keep my observations to myself from now on.

It helps me savor kicking your ass so soundly. Yes, it does. I was just trying to help, dude. But whatever.
Yes, you're a Front Office Football Expert WOW! Make believe football god! Good Job man! Make sure to post that on your resume and your tombstone asshole.

If you're telling me that everyone BUT my starting 4 defensive backs are covering your starting two receivers the majority of the game that's just stupid. I give a fuck what route your running.

You just had this little burr under your saddle cuz I said "you're reaching"? Wow. Pathetic. I'm sorry, the deep nuances of this complex game must be beyond me. I can't fathom this situational logic so I'll leave to experts like you.

Congrats on masterminding that sweet win. No one else has been able to solve the riddle of the Reaper defense. Good job professor! :D
Throw all the insults and trash you want. I don't think I stooped to that level, or wanted to, but feel free. Knock yourself out.

But, pardon me for engaging in a dialogue about Front Office Football. I guess this isn't the right place for that. Sorry for getting going off topic, guys. When I have something to whine about, or some thing about FOF to blame, or some kind of idle trash talk, instead of something about strategy and actually trying to understand the game, I'll pop back in sometime.

I hate it when mommy and daddy argue.

Just another few years of therapy tacked on. My analyst says I should start to feel much better after the drugs build up in my system.

Sometimes the voices in my head speak only Farsi, which is troubling since I don't speak Farsi myself.

Does anyone have some fabric softener?

Eh, I was being a bit of a dick, but I didn't really mean to be. Can't help it, sometimes. You know that, Herbie.

                  Sorry guys.

This whole topic was dead to me LAST week. But it wasn't to everyone unfortunately.

I'm really not upset that my team is bad. It's fake football. I've been trying to understand why their ratings don't seem to matter. Every time I've heard something that didn't make sense I would ask for more clarification, but nobody ever seemed to have an answer so to me it is what it is. But some people for whatever reason couldn't let go.

Now hopefully it truly is a done deal. In the end it was worth it to see Acid post that classic pic however. =D>

                            1. It's the same defense (personnel) as last year
                            2. The ratings have improved for most of the players
                            3. The statistics/results compared to last year are FAR worse (beyond that of just a bad game or two)

If it were the fault of the LB's, Nickel Back's etc., then why did it not cause a similar problem last season?

The only significant difference is the patch (6e).

Comparatively, if it were simply a matter of LB's and Nickle Backs, then Waco would be far worse than the STELLAR passing D it is, since his LB's (particularly the SLB) are no better, if not a bit worse, than Chicago.

I'd like to know the real reason just for my own edification, since, as it stands, it seems that ratings have little effect vs. the passing game.

Again, there's the patch, I'm leaning toward fishy code.

                            Let the flaming begin.

                            P.S. FIGHT!
The ratings have a huge effect on the passing game just look at my team. I have below average LBs and CBs when it comes to passing and I have the second worst passing D in the league. The only thing that keeps me competitive is my D line brings a ton of pressure.

Now I'm sure the patch has had some affect on the game but its not the sole reason some teams are struggling more than they did last year. Most of the teams that were good last year are good this year (LV, CLB, Memphis, Motor City.)

                                From the developer hisself:

"I'm going to tell you something happened along your offensive line on this play, not I'm going to measure every player on every play and measure his success). FOF could, as it stands now, do the latter with only a tiny adjustment. Just a design decision to go in another direction"

So there you have it folks, ratings...not so much.
