  • 2039 Pre-Season Discussion

How did your players shape up after ex.2? Have you managed to avoid any serious injuries? Has your new gameplan worked or will it need tweaking a bit more?

The Portland Phantoms came away from St Paul with a 13-6 defeat in their first exhibition game of the 2039 season. The performance wasn't too bad and with a bit more discipline, we would have had more points on the board.

Not sure how our rookies have shaped up yet (not at home yet) but we managed to come out of the game relatively injury free. DT Babka is the only real concern going into the next few weeks.

A couple of my young non-rookies I'd been counting on either took steps back or fell into nothingness. All look plausibly vol-related given the steps back in static bars as well. With only a 60-man preseason roster....that's obviously not good. But the show must go on!

Nice to see my star 4th year QB go -13/-17. What a joke.

At 61/71, he still looks like the best QB to enter the league in the last five years, and top four from the last decade. And he was taken at 1.23.

Possibly your scouts had just been particularly optimistic.

Same here with Granberry Matt. No rhyme or reason.

And yet his Sense Rush went up 5 points.

FWIW I only saw him go -18, so I think part of that was an over evaluation by your scouting.

                      Wait, he's a 3rd rounder. Blair, right?

Your 2nd rounder, Singleton, looks okay still.

                      Spoiler

Pfft garion. Of course preseason matters.

I haven't gone back and looked back into the record books, but this may be the most exciting preseason game in OSFL league history:

Decent performance in Exhibition week 3 against Pearl harbour. Both QB's playing well and expecting big things from rookie OLB Hall. No injuries picked up this week.

Portland welcome Dakota in Exhibition week 4.
