  • 2040 OSFL Fantasy League

I was thinking next season of maybe starting a fantasy league of OSFL players. Was wondering if there would be interest.

If you are interested, post here. Also, open discussion on the idea.

I like it. I think it would go a long way to getting me more involved with knowing the stars of the league.

NFL fantasy football is probably the sole reason I watch the NFL.

I was just seeing if there was interest.

Since there is, discussion is how we will decide. First step, is it going to be a dynasty or regular league? Will we draft or auction? What type of scoring will we use?

I was thinking that is just for fun, a fantasy league based in a fantasy league ;) So, no cost, just do it for fun, and bragging rights, not money. Second, I was thinking a regular draft league which re-drafts every season. With the turnover in the OSFL, we may also have a lot of turnover in the fantasy league. And I play on ESPN, so I'm used to the basic ESPN scoring system (http://games.espn.go.com/ffl/resourc...coring-formats).

Just my thoughts. But, to be honest, I don't really have any big preference.

Oh, I also play on Draft Kings, and I like their scoring too. It might actually be easier to use the Draft Kings scoring for a regular league.

OK, here's what I'm going to do. Make it really simple.

Every regular season week, players will send me their picks for that week. You will choose 1 defense/ST, 1 QB, 1 RB, 1 TE, 1 WR, and two flex positions. Flex can only be RB, TE, WR.

I'm going to use the Draft Kings points values, because they are simplest to use for me to calculate. I will post them below.

We will play 17 weeks. Winner has the highest score. In the event of a tie, the tiebreaker will be the Wildcard round. Same for the Divisional Round. If there is still a tie, in the conference round players will choose 10 players, numbered 1 to 10. I will go through each list, if the #1 of each player are different, then they will go on the team. If they are the same, I will go to #2 and start the process again. I will draw 3 players for each team in this fashion, so it will be 3 different players. Highest score wins. Will do the same for the Bowl game, with the addition of a three guesses on the game... home team score, visiting team score, total score. If still a tie on points, closest to the total score wins. 2nd tiebreak will be the home team's score, and final tiebreak will be the visiting team's score. If still a tie, I will not do this again the following year :)

One final rule: You cannot pick ANY players or defense/ST in a game in which you are involved! So you can't pick players from your team or the team you are playing against.

                  Scoring:
                  Passing TD: 4
                  Other TD: 6
Passing yards: .04 (1 point for 25 passing yards)
Rushing yards: .1 (1 point for 10 rushing yards)
Receiving yards: .1 (1 point for 10 receiving yards)
                  INT thrown: -1
                  Fumble lost: -1
                  300 yard passing game: 3
100 yards rushing or receiving game: 3
                  Reception: 1
2 point conversion: 2 (for passer and receiver if throwing conversion)
                  Sack: 1
                  INT: 2
                  Fumble recovery: 2
                  Safety: 2
Blocked Kick or punt: nothing, because these aren't shown in the basic box score in FOF.
                  0 points allowed: 10
                  1-6 points allowed: 7
                  7-13 points allowed: 4
                  14-20 points allowed: 1
                  21-27 points allowed: 0
                  28-34 points allowed: -1
                  35+ points allowed: -4

If anyone prefers, we can pick teams for the entire season, as that way you don't have to make picks every week. I'm fine either way, since I won't be playing, I'll just be keeping score. I will actually be playing, just to see how I would have fared, but since I have access to everyone's picks, I don't think it's fair for me to play in the game.

OK, I've given it a little more thought, and I think the best way to run it is like this:

Everyone gives a master lineup. You can give a lineup every game week. However, if you do not send in a lineup, your master lineup will be used.

I also forgot to mention. You have until 1 hour before the sim is supposed to run to get in your lineup. No lineups will be accepted after that 1 hour mark. Before the season starts, we will have Aston verify what time the sim is supposed to run for this game.
