I really hope in a future version of this game that when you run training camp, you could rank formations for your QB to learn. If you have great TE's put in to learn those first, 4 Great receivers go with formations for that. etc. Give you as a GM a little more ability to run the formations you feel will be of most help for your team.

Maybe flesh out the coaches more to get the most out of QB and other positions but I rather enjoy the division of labor where I GM and just let the coaches I hire or swim.

"Tom...you don't know what Ace Trips is do you. You've been in the league like 20 years man...how have you not learned that formation?"
Tom looking blankly at Bill.
"Screw it...just throw it to Gronk."

I guess that's kind of how FOF handles the formation thing so I guess it's kinda realistic.

Haha, LMAO
Basically there are different "QB styles" that dictate the types of formations they tend to learn. So, a choice of QB might dictate personnel choices. For example, a 1st round franchise QB who won't learn 2TE formations might force a team to think twice before massive investments in TE. Or you could have a QB that has a lot of those 3-WR formations, or one who is missing the 4/5 WR ones.
On top of that, there's intelligence which I believe affects how many formations they start with and how fast they learn them. So it's nice to have a smart QB, but of course, it's better to just have a *good* QB to begin with.
Unfortunately, it's not very clear how to translate "QB style" to "formations learned". I'm sure this is known somewhat, but it's too cryptic for me to pay much attention to it.
Basically, it just doesn't make that much sense to worry too much about the formations. Definitely something that needs revamping. If the intent is to force players to make tradeoffs, make them meaningful.Float likeabutterflysting likeabee.

By formula a Intelligent QB would be prone to throw more picks... Ridiculous but a 37 of Solecisimic with very high Intelligence will be like Morton in PXT, a pick machine...
I do prefer dumb asses who have high Sole...

I agree with you all on certain points but some QBs just don't learn formations based on training camp or use certain position players more than others.
For instance, Russell Wilson cannot learn how to throw to TE Graham the same way Brees utilized him in New Orleans.
Same can be said with Sproles in Philly or how certain receivers are used on one team vs another...like how Amendola is used in New England or Mike Wallace non productivity in Minnesota.
Sometimes you have to live with the player you got.
