I have never gotten a rookie FA that has impressed before now. This year I signed WR Diego Casey to a 1 yr contract but he turned out 30/47 so I have decided I want to extend his contract and went to offer him a extension. Problem is I can't offer one, and I really don't want to take a chance on losing him to FA this next offseason. So the question is will there be any time during the season I can resign him or since he was a FA and signed only 1 yr, am I going to have to bid on him in FA? Sorry if stupid question just have never gotten a decent FA rookie I wanted to keep before.

BTW, any player that you sign to a one year deal will not be able to get a contract extension.Anchorage Gladiators - 2038 Wk10 - Present

One more clarification:
If you sign a 4th year player to a 1 year contract, he will be a free agent the following season, not an RFA, because he will be in his 5th season. Only 4th year players or less that are free agents can be RFAs. Just wanted to make sure this was clear, as Ryan said 5 years or less in there.GM of the South Maryland Maulers 2034-2040
