My draft was very poor. The worst thing about it is that I was loving it before now!

    1.10 CB Dan Rinaldi. Was 58/78, now 65/70. +7/-8
    1.14 ILB Jason Hopkins. Was 33/68, now 37/56. +4/-12
    1.24 OLB Jack Longwell. Was 24/59, now 28/53. +4/-6

3 first round picks, one pissed off GM :)

2.10 C Buddy Ardrey. Was 37/79, now 42/76. The best player I drafted, is +5/-3.
    6.10 P Kenny Weaver. Was 46/63, now 47/57. +1/-6

As much as you may not believe this... I'm a positive guy. So let's look at the positives. I had 5 draft picks in this draft, and come away with 5 starters (at this point, LOL). The bad news... Hopkins and Longwell were not worth the value of the picks I used to get them. Rinaldi probably was, we'll see. Ardrey was definitely a value pick at 2.10, and should end up being as good as the guy I traded for 1.24, so that trade is probably a wash for me. Weaver probably won't last 3 years in Huntsville, as he is far too average looking. But, if his net average is 40+ yards, he'll be my punter forever :D

Both the linebackers are not what I'd hoped. For both, my main need was run defense and man to man, as the strong side is usually my coverage side of my LB corps. And I like my front seven to be run stoppers also. Hopkins will be OK there, but not great. Longwell should be a really good cover guy, but he isn't going to help against the run. Now that I look, Joey Glover MAY be the starting SILB this season for us. And at SLB, my goal was to let Costa play one more season as Longwell progresses. But Costa took a big hit, so Longwell may be starting sooner than expected. These will be two interesting battles... 1st round picks vs. veterans.

One other draft note... my 5.24 of 2039, RB Harry Singleton got a nice boost, going +8/+6, with his hole recognition jumping to 71/71, and his endurance getting a boost to 65/65. I think with him and the jump from the offensive line, the Sage/Mallory connection is going to be minimal in their final year here.

We took some major hits on both draft & vets Here is our draft summery

1.26 QB Clark 11/29 pre TC & 13/25 now Interview was VU his bars was what I drafted him on, should of been VOR. Our owner pleaded with me to go RB Paniagula who we felt was best remaining RB we show him now as 55/55 with 3 bars still green. Wish we would of listened to owner as our starting RB Small dropped from 48/48 to 42/42. Huge Bust

2.11 NT Quarles 39/64 & 42/67 What I loved about Quarles is I was wanting to change my def up in next few years get some guys that can pressure the QB Quarles has 86 Pass rush tech. 70 pass rush str. His run def is good also at 57 and has good hitting. Very happy with pick.

2.31 CB Barton 38/57 & 48/68. May be my best pick of draft. I liked Barton for 2nd rd but I liked Quarles & CB Bayslinger better who my scouts now see as 36/59. I feel very blessed that all those wanting Bayslinger did not consider Barton, especially div rival Julio and the Yuma Aces. Super excited on this pick.

4.10 G Bismo 15/42 & 17/34. Interviewed VU was hoping for a 8 pt bump not drop. Very disappointed after the drop.

4.21 WLB Wilson 18/46 & 23/45 For where he was drafted I feel we got a solid player. Overall pleased

      5.13 SILB Sayre 11/37 & 13/30 Disappointed with drop.

5.21 RDE Page 22/38 & 25/39 From this point on I am hoping for the best and getting cheap guys. If I find a gem in rough it would of been great. I got decent value for pick I think.

6.14 RB Shaw 25/40 & 27/33 Really could of used a bump here considering Small's drop. Disappointed

6.17 TE Goble 14/33 & 15/26 We might nickname him Turkey and fatten him up for Thanksgiving not worth much more than that.

      6.21 WR Zuksauskas 21/33 & 23/33 blah blah.

6.32 C Harvill 17/45 & 19/31 First thought we might have a gem but he took the biggest nose dive.

      7.18 FS Blushman 19/40 & 21/31 another drop

Overall thoughts had we of taken RB Paniagua I'd of said we had excellent draft but _____ the pooch there. So I am going to say we was somewhere between good & Fair draft.

Late FA's We have 3 of them that could make the team TE Hernandez 22/41 WR Carpender 25/36 and WLB Shields 20/45 most happy with of late FA. Got outbid on several others I liked.

ira, you have a good interviewing HC, but your OC and DC both are terrible interviewers. I thought only the HC mattered, but with two VU players dropping, I have to think that they have something to do with the interviews gone wrong for your QB and G

Yeah I was under impression Interviews was HC
          Scouting was the Coordinators.

When I drafted Clark I figured at worse he might finis max scout rating of 45. Then when I saw the VU thought I might hit 55-60 range, I hear a lot about hidden values and I don't understand this hidden stuff but I am guessing that is reason maybe for the huge drop or bust.

Does scouting at "39" effect all scouting (not just the draft)?

It's combine accuracy so just the draft.

And the game's routine for running the scouting combine was changed to make it more difficult for experienced players to easily identify good players. This change is activated only if the person simulating the draft has the global setting for combine accuracy below 50. If this value is at the default of 50 or higher, no change was made. In addition, if the accuracy is below 40, a second change was made that removes all traces of the problem. We strongly recommend not going below 40 in the single-player game, as the AI for computer-controlled teams is not good at this level.

Wow, just wow. I can't believe some of the picks, like Axel Naretta. Makes my pick of Dustin Terry look bad. Worst thing is I had VU on Naretta but let him slip. Anyhow, I like my draft it is just looking at "what could have been" is always painful.

In my short time back in the OSFL I don't think I've seen so many GM's disappointed in their drafts.

Is it wrong that I'm kind of happy to see this?

I have to say I love the 39 setting. I was starting to get bored with the 50 setting. After the 2nd round the draft just wasn't interesting anymore. Now lots of fun stuff happens in the late rounds again.

I was still learning towards the end of the draft and found Swift then Newhart. I can't wait to do this again next season and see if what I learned translates into an even better draft.
