Nevermind about the active/inactive, it doesn't seem to matter. If it is the injury settlement thing - yes even guys with minor injuries will ask for $$$. You can either pay it, IR them or open up a roster spot for them.

It depends on the injury. Not all injuries are IR-able. I believe that the player must be "out" to go on IR.
You can't release injured players with multiple-year contracts, strick. I can release them for you, however; the CFL also adopted this practice recently. Let me know who you want gone. You will incur the injury settlement still.
The player must be "doubtful" or "out" to be placed on IR.

gosh that kind of sucks. so i shouldnt play guys i plan on releasing in the pre season so i should risk my vets/starters?
Yeah, it's one of several stupid things, IMO. The 'release' button works on the commish side, just not from the player's side. It's fine, it's not a big deal.
You can play guys you plan on releasing without worry unless they are on multi-year deals.
