  • Fantasy Week 1

I have lineups from the following GMs:

    IrishGuy65
    irabowman
    RyanG
    strapalongenon84
    rush_27
    Rokiu

There was a question about points for Special Teams. in the original post, I failed to mention 3 points for a FG. So ST points will be:

    FG: 3 Points
    Missed FG: -1 point
    PR TD: 6 points
    KR TD: 6 points
Fumble recovery for a TD: 6 points
    Fumble recovery: 2 points
    Safety: 2 points

So, if you have a returner on your team, and the special teams he is on... a return TD for him is worth 12 points for you... 6 points for the individual, and 6 points for the special teams. Same works for a QB/WR, QB/TE, or QB/RB combo... 4 points for TD pass, and 6 points for a TD reception.

Some time in the evening, I will post the points for week 1. Not sure what time, because today is a busy day for me.

I copied them right out of the PMs sent to me.

You can never use your players, or players on the team you are playing against. I didn't take the time to check to see if that happened this week. If it did, I will adjust points.

You can make adjustments each week. If your team is playing against a player on your fantasy roster, I suggest you send me an adjustment. If a guy gets hurt, it might be wise to make an adjustment. I will post lineups each week. I will create a master thread where I will post each week's rosters, points, and total points for the season.

Again, i'd like to emphasize that I will PM Aston each game week with my adjustments, if I have any (and I will). You can check with him to verify that I am sending them in before the sim.

Good luck the rest of the way. I wouldn't mind seeing more GMs play. It takes me some time to do it, but I'm happy to see more GMs involved. For this season, if you come in late, I will give you the AVERAGE of all GMs up to that point. I think it is unfair if you come in after week 10, so we'll have this open until week 10. Join us!

As I'm thinking about it... remember this is more of a test run for this season than anything else.

If there is something you'd like to see changed, just post it and we'll discuss it. This all is really off the top of my head, and the point scoring is from Draft Kings, mostly. So I'm happy to fine tune this thing.

For example, i was just thinking it might be better if everyone posted their lineups. Or maybe find a 3rd party to send them to. Honestly, I don't look at the lineups until I start to do the points. I was very surprised that everyone picked Erickson. If anything, I would have picked Sage if I could. He had 34 TDs and only 8 INT last season, compared to Erickson's 25 TD and 6 INT. That's a 34 point difference. Add in that Sage had more yards than Erickson, and that's even more points. If I were to calculate the points for all QBs last season, I think Sage was higher than Erickson, and likely in the top 3 with Arnold from LAK and Mandel from LVS. From South Maryland starter Alexander Prescott might round out the top 5 with Sage and Erickson.

Anyway, I tried my best to think in terms of matchups more than overall yearly point values. I'll be considering matchups each week and taking what I think are the best values.

I'm surprised by the Erickson love! We've been a run first team, I think, prizing QB efficiency over volume (and fantasy probably rewards the latter). That said, I don't know how good our run game is this year so things may change. And Erickson certainly has had some monster individual games in the past. It's not clear what the most winning offense approach is yet for this year.

Kudos to Irish for running this and nice discussion.

If anyone picked Douglas this week they would've gotten a nice return. :)

I understand, though. Dude is old and my offense has been garbo the past couple years.

Glad you said that... Portland's defense looks a little suspect. Might be a good idea to pick players playing against them.

Defense was our strength last season. Not sure what has happened so far this year

Erm, @IrishGuy65, I think you may have spelt your week2 defence team name wrong, thanks for the pick, sorry about the performance, I think the sun kept getting in the eyes of my secondary,
