  • FA Miniumin Wage

What is minimum wage you can offer a player in FA, and is it different for different positions. Reson I ask is it keeps telling me my offer is too low for this stage. Same thing happened last year, then I'd see people who bid lower on guys that I decided not to bid on because I felt it was over paying.

The minimum salary depends on a number of factors including:

    - years of experience
    - playing time during previous season
    - overall rating

If it keeps saying that the offer is too low then you can raise the offer until it says that it will be considered. If the player does not sign then you can usually lower the offer during the next stage.

OK that would explain why I have seen players sign cheaper than when I made them original offer and it said too low.

Too low is also somewhat dependent on years offered & bonus. More bonus gets you more leeway. A 2nd-year increase gets you some leeway; a 3rd-year increase gets you much less leeway.

Also, player demands are dropping each stage past their "sign by" point, if they have one. So the threshold is dropping accordingly, too.

Basically, it's mostly intuitive: when players sit around in FA and nobody is offering them, there is an opportunity to sign them as cheap as you like (within their thresholds). When players are being offered, of course, you'll have to go beat out the other teams if you want them badly enough, usually by some combination of guarantees and salary. I hate getting into bidding wars for that reason, but conversely, the more teams shy away from bidding, the easier it is to win bids.
