I am interested in trading for a player and the guy I'd be trading with thought the trade would probley not go thru. So I am asking the long time players. If a player's salary is 14Mill and you have only 7 Mill cap left do you have to cut someone that is costing you at least 7 Mill or can you cut say a player that cost 5 Mill and be deducted 2 Mill off next years salary?

You'd need to cut enough salary to clear the space to fit the new contract. Can't move money to future years unfortunately.

Bear in mind that you won't pay the bonus money, just the base salary. The bonus is paid by the outgoing team
