To further explain, the schemes are new.. OC and DC now run schemes like 3-4, 4-3 over, 4-3 under, 3-4 Eagle.. Or on offense they run balanced, west coast, erhardt perkins, smashmouth, etc.

But the advancements in this game are incredible from a game planning standpoint.. It is clear so much work went into that aspect that I can understand why coach hiring hasnt been touched much.. I think with the right amount of feedback there is a chance he changes that in the future with a patch.

This new version is going to be the closest thing to head to head coaching that this game can get. Its super exciting.
Wow, this sounds great. I look forward to playing it.

Most importantly: I'll be able to play single player again.

BTW- what is player scouting drafting like in this? Is it much the same? I hope that's improved too but I expect we'll be getting the same.

Drafting is fairly similar, except I think Jim has added a few more wrinkles to make it harder to suss out studs too easily.

The cool thing is that different types of players fit different positions and different systems better.. The position change penalty is gone on defense too, so you can move DTs to DE, ILB to OLB, DE to 3-4 WLB, etc. Each player has a "best fit" for their talent, mentioned on the player cards. Offensively, this isn't really used, but there are no more formation restrictions on QBs either. No more getting stuck with a rookie QB who only knows 6 formations and having your offense hamstrung as a result. Now it is about how you use your talent, because game planning is so incredible now.

And another cool thing? The read option is runnable. You can have the QB as your main ball carrier if you want. You can call WR screens now. You can have 5 different RBs plugged into 5 different personnel groupings, you can be as creative or weird as you want, within reason.

In my opinion, this game will revolutionize MP FOF. It levels the playing field.

This game planning stuff is really heartening.

I might be more excited about this game than Jim is.

Julio, have you been playing a beta release, or something? I know none of these details

FOF8 is Jim making the game more focused on match ups, which is what he wanted with FOF7 but never quite got there. Good!

First time for me that i'll live a software transition in the league. How will it work? How long between the release of FOF8 and the migration?

It's actually going to be a first for me, but when FOF7 came out, leagues typically waited until the end of their current season, sent their files in to Jim, and he converted them. There aren't any details about FOF8 as yet, however.

If there's a delay it'll likely not be much longer than the usual between-seasons breather. Since FOF8 is dropping this week and we've just started the exhibition season, the game should be around 2 months old by the time the OSFL converts.

I dunno if there were any FOF2k7 holdouts. Probably every league converted their first offseason, or at least almost every.

My question is in MP I suspect most of you guys will be upgrading to FOF8 but for those that can't afford it right away will we still be able to play? Being on disability and Christmas coming then Jan. having to pay back taxes. I won't be able to upgrade till at least Feb. I'd hate having to leave cause of that but understand if versions will conflict.

If the league upgrades, then the owners need to. That being said, this season isn't scheduled to end until 1/23. Tack on any delays and time for Jim to convert, and we're practically in February.

The #FrontOfficeFootball Eight store is viewable: http://store.steampowered.com/app/547900 . #FOF8 is expected to go on sale at 6:00 p.m. EST (UTC-5).

So 6pm EST tomorrow it is. I will be purchasing the game tomorow.

No news yet of league conversions but i am keeping an eye on things. If past history is to go by we would not be able to as a league to make the switch to fof8 untill we finish the upcoming season which as hooper pointed out would not be untill 1/23. We will move to the new version at our earliest, easy opportunity.

Also and I am just throwing this out there as a potential option for this league to see what owners feeling would be and if there would be interest.

Do we want to continue with our current teams, league history etc or consider restarting the osfl with the new game? Either way I am good. Just excited to see new version

I'm biased, but I'd like to continue on

Dat interface. Jim, UX design. Oof. I only have a 21.5'' monitor here.

Tough call. For selfish reasons, I'd be interested in a reboot. I just don't like my current team. But for the league I think a continuation is more fair. Other guys have some players to be excited about. The only thing that would change that is if the new version drastically alters incoming draft classes or some such thing which would give some people with guys already on their team an unfair advantage.
