FOF7 was here for a comparatively short amount of time. I guess I've had my share of both in both the pre-39 and post-39 era.

But I greatly favor the 39 experience. 50 felt a *lot* easier, a lot more solved. Mostly it's probably just odd to have the (almost combine irrelevant???) system installed on the building blocks of the legacy combine-heavy one.

So some of the mechanics about it feel unusual and not so intuitive, but the general level of mystery seems more appropriate than before.

By the way, FM sounds really cool. I'm scaaaaaared to get into it, though. Haha. But man, that game looks intense.

FM is the best ever for me, i spend over 600 hours a year per version. for me what makes the big difference over any other text sims is that you are not the center of the universe, only a tiny part of it

FM is so loved I tried to learn about soccer in order to play it, but this old man just doesn't have the stamina to learn about how new sports work.

I really really liked FOF before getting into OOTP. Now that I'm understanding all of the information that's available in OOTP, I'm struggling to stick with FOF. OOTP is just so much more polished. There's a ton of information to sort through, and it all seems to make sense. There doesn't seem to be a "figuring it out" like there is with FOF. It's just a matter of making educated guesses, which is possible because you can see how players performed in high school and college. You can take those past stats and combine them with your scouts views of his potential and then even get a couple sentences from your scout on how he views that player for each rating and overall. There's still busts and surprise stars, but it all comes together much more organically. Also, your scout is separate from your coaches and you set a separate scouting budget, so you have a lot more control over how accurate your scouting is.

In short, yes the OOTP system is much better.

OOTP is far superior. Figuring out the system like some have in FOF can't happen. You don't see the same team winning constantly because they cracked a code that has nothing to do with football. Baseball knowledge pays off but more importantly anyone can win, draft, and be successful.

Even a newbie can win. Sometimes

My only gripe is I'm a tired, busy old guy and I don't have the energy to delve into the new gameplanning system but I still have the desire to micromanage and game plan.

Oh, and the new menu system seems annoying and not always intuitive, but maybe I will like it more when I get used to it. Being able to have multiple windows open now is great.
