  • FOF 8 Migration?

I assume that we are migrating to FOF 8 at the end of the season. What are the chances Kosar? I am personally looking forward for the change. How the league feels about it?

After playing a lot of SP in 8 I'm not as excited as I was. I'm hoping some patches clean things up.

Some things that I have issue with:

    - No subs. The packages shouldn't be sub situations. I don't want to have to take out a starting player in a certain package to get him rest. That's just silly. On the flip side I don't want my starting RB getting 30 carries a game without a break.

    - I'm not convinced that D gameplanning changes anything. I see the same results simming an entire season using 8 in a box Buzz as I do Cover 4.

    - Also defensive packages are bad. I can't play Nickel against 2 WR...ever? Why not?

    - The menus are really bad. I can't find half the stuff I want to find without having to scroll all over the place.

    - I feel the GM aspect has been dumbed down and the coach part has become too cumbersome without producing results that make it worth the time.

    - After signing a KO specialist I realized I couldn't even have him kickoff.

I don't think I'm going to make the transition to FOF8. After reading everything I can find on the game I'm convinced that it's just more of the same. That is to say that there's more content, but you don't have enough control over any of it to keep me interested. I was never interested in this game as a coaching game, I liked it as a GM simulator. The FOF franchise seems to be moving more towards the coaching aspect without fixing the glaring issues with the GM system.

At this point, I feel that OOTP is a much more enjoyable game to me and I think I'd rather join a second OOTP league than forcing myself to continue in an FOF league. It's been fun, but I've found something better. It's not you, it's me. I'll keep exporting until OSFL makes the transition, at which point I'll have to bow out.

I actually think I might bow out too, from all my leagues. The gameplanning stuff is really, really cool but I can't jive with some of his other choices.

I'm fine sticking with FOF7 considering all the problems I hear about 8

Pretty much the entire UI overhaul. I wrote about that here.

AI for substitutions is broken? I don't need control over my backups, but the AI seems bugged or broken right now.

I'm not sure what it is, tbh. I find myself grudgingly opening up the game and forcing myself to play. I think it's time to actually move on to other sim titles. FOF is a bit played out for me.

The current season is scheduled to end 23/01 so we still got plenty of time. I will make an announcement after our christmas/new year break 02/01 once I know more with regards the conversion process and get the roll call up a little earlier to see who staying with us as we move to FOF8
