  • Question about training camp... and the game in general.

Seeing as this is my first time ever playing FOF I have some questions I hope the vets could help answer. One, what exactly goes on during Training Camp? Do we get to assign certain players to do certain task to build up their bars? Secondly, when it comes to game time, how exactly is it played? Is it simmed just like OOTP and we see the results?

    Any help would be great.

Training camp is broken down into hourly increments and areas of concentration. . .defense, special teams, offense, conditioning, etc. . .and you assign however long you want to concentrate on each are.. . .

One thing that a lot of people forget is the weight training. . .BEFORE you run training camp, go through your roster player by player. . highlight them and then look up to the top right of the menu and you'll see a weight tab. . after you've selected that, you'll get a message telling you about the player's weight and performance issues with that weight and you'll be prompted to either lose weight or bulk up weight. . .

The games are simmed, but we have Solevision. . .it's a play by play of the game as it unfolds. As long as you have the hide results tab selected in Global Options, when you open the game itself, you won't see the results before watching solevision. ..it's pretty cool.

I've been watching reruns of my UFL Championship game last night all morning!

Thanks Hoosier! So it's not player by player, but more by team, so if you concentrate more on defense everyone gets better? So I can't tell one QB to work on reading defense while the other needs to work on arm strength?

Also thanks for the info on the games, that sounds really cool. Can't wait to try it out.

As far as improving quarterbacks--and all positions for that matter--individually, you'll see the improvements as they play through the season. I've had qb's gain one or two playcalling options and increase their bars and offensive linemen dramatically improve their run blocking bars just by playing them . . .

Injuries, especially the players you put on i.r., will show just the opposite, a reduction in bars.

but's it random or stat based correct, and not anything the user does to prompt the increase in ratings?

            Not that I've ever noticed...

One thing Hoosier didn't mention is you do get to determine prior to submitting your file to whether or not to put each player on a weight training or reduction plan in camp. On each player page their's a "weights" button that you press to give you feedback on if the player is above or below the positional average, then you decide if you want them to gain/lose weight during camp. Again, I've never done the math to see if it really helps or hurts but maybe Skydog or someone will share their wisdom on this.

Next question is, what are the benefits/risks of changing your teams training camp schedule? It seems pretty self explanatory, just want to make sure I'm not totally screwing my team over by tinkering with their dinner time.

Just once I want to put all the practice times to zero and see how far morale improves....
