  • OSFL Quarterly Report- 1st Quarter

Best team: St Paul Bandits- We can put the “one year wonder” talk away. This Bandits team has been absolutely dominant in the first quarter of the season. St Paul faced three of last year’s playoff teams last year and beat them by an average of 18 points. QB Dusty Galloway has been amazing with a QB rating of 124.7 with 13 Tds and only 2 interceptions. Rob Cote is currently in the top 5 rushers and DT Hugh Adams is proving to be worth every dime they paid him in the off-season. Adams is third on the team in tackles and has a team leading 6.5 sacks.

    Honorable Mention: Morgantown and Anchorage

Most Surprising Team: Morgantown Maniacs- The Maniacs lost their best WR, had an ownership change and didn’t sign their first round draft pick until Week 1. The team looked to be in shambles and seemed like an easy pick to be one of last yea’s playoff teams that will miss this year’s playoffs. Boy was I wrong. The Maniacs started the season 4-0 and are the only team so far to play the Saints tough. QB Floyd Cosby has been the 2nd best in the league and hasn’t missed a step. WRs Leo Woods and Sammy Arnold have filled the void left by Leland Lilledahl. The only concern is their 29th ranked pass defense and the fact that many of the teams in their division have good passing offenses.

Honorable Mention: Ohio Valley and New Orleans

Most Disappointing Team: Waco Warhawks- The Warhawks were 8-8 last year and the only team in the division that I thought could challenge Memphis for the division title. They opened the 2008 season 0-4 and have a difficult schedule the rest of the way. The one question I’ve been asking this year is “Where is Skip Alig?” Skip had over 1600 yards last year and averaged 4.19 yards per carry last year. This year, he has yet to run for over 70 yards in a game and is averaging almost a yard per carry less than last year. All is not lost for the Warhawks. They have been competitive. They lost three of their four games by an average of three points and QB Herman Alabaso has been solid under center. Unless Alig can start getting it going and their defensive line can cause some pressure (league low in sacks and hurries) this could be a long season,

Honorable Mention: Las Vegas and Kalispel

    OSFL MVP Race:

    1. Dusty Galloway, St. Paul
    2. Floyd Cosby, Morgantown
    3. Rob Cote, St. Paul

We were thinking about changing out name to the Saints, but we'll stick with the Bandits. (Hahah, just kidding with ya, cool story)

Oops. LOL. I think there is a St Paul Saints minor league team. I'll change it.

Yes, you are right. And those are fun games to go to, especially if you sit in the beach seats behind the dugouts. I figured that is what you were thinking, heheh.

We have yet to play St. Paul in 3 seasons. Hopefully we can meet soon so I can matchup my defense against their offense.

Nice feature. This brings up an interesting question I wanted to ask: Does anyone else see the Waco Bombers as having a 3-2 record in the standings right now? I know they started 0-4 but for some reason (could be a quirk because of a problem with my batch file which is needed for multiple leagues) I see them as having a 3-2 record now.

              Waco Bombers?

              Washington Warhawks?

              St. Paul Saints. . .

don't do this to me guys, I'm confused enough as it is!

Ok, my batch file needs some work I think. I'm seeing Waco as the Bombers, but I just realized from the writeup they should be the Warhawks.

                  Waco Warhawks are 0-4.

                  Washington Bombers are 3-2.

                  :)
