  • Eliminate Preseason Sims?

Last year, we voted yes to eliminating preseason midweek sims by a 16-15 vote but we decided to stick with the status quo since. Since the vote was so close last year, I decided to bring this up for a vote again. Here are the pros and cons of eliminating preseason midweek sims:

    Pros:

    Everyone hates the preseason
Regular Season starts a full week.
Skydog presented evidence in this thread that there are work arounds to any potential roster problems that no midweek sims would present. It can be found here:

    Cons:

Gives owners two weeks to become familiar with their new rosters.

Potential issue concerning cutting players and/or adding FA and the CPU filling the empty spot on the depth chart. (There is a simple workaround for this but it is still an issue)

    Voting ends January 31.

So as I understand it, the workaround for empty depth chart spots is to simply make a player that you are trading away or releasing inactive for that week. Correct?

Personally, I'm in favor of getting rid of the pre-season midweek sims.

Correct but I think Skydog can speak on this better.

I think it would be fine to get rid of the preseason midweeks.. maybe put 2 midweeks between the end of the preseason and the first week of the regular season, but other than that, not having midweeks wouldn't bother me at all.

Also, when signing an FA or trading for a player without midweeks, the newly acquired player will go straight to the active roster. To avoid A.I. interference, make room for them on your active roster before sending in your export for that week.

A good way to do that is to make any outgoing players inactive for the week, or if no one is leaving the team, make a player inactive to make room for the new guy.

After that, all you have to do is make sure your depth chart is filled out and you'll have no problem with unwanted A.I. interaction. You can still field a team with less than 46 active players.
