Only real bust seems to be Gnida, someone I didn't mean to pick in the first place... I'm really pleased with how things turned out... so far.
FYI I was totally nabbing Crist 2 picks after you. I can't believe anyone else even considered him. Something about him gave me a feeling, thought nobody would take him. I will be interested to see how he looks post camp.

I think the reason I liked Crist was because my scouts had him as good hands, and I just wanted to bring in another guy who could hold onto the ball.

He'd be quite the steal if he can come anywhere close to that 50 overall rating.

We didn't have a ton of picks, but that's ok. We got the guy we wanted.

(1.3) MLB - Julio Durham (40/67) - This was the guy we wanted the day the draft class was announced. Fortunately we were able to move up to #3 to be sure we got him. MLB was a hole in our defense, now we should be set. I think the defense is complete. This guy is very raw, and I think he will end up being a Pro Bowler. His combine numbers were off the chart. We toyed with RB here, but I wanted to finish the defense. As far as our starting unit, I think we're set for a LONG time.
(2.14) RB - Ian Sanderson (41/51) - Honestly, not who we'd thought would slip to us. This was a flat out need pick, taking the best available at the position. I don't have very high hopes for him, BUT he is far along with development so who knows. I have a feeling we'll be looking at RB again next year.
(5.13) TE - Dana Burke (21/42) - We didn't like anybody here. We needed another TE eventually and we did like Burke's athleticism. Maybe he can contribute in a few years. But we aren't real high on him.
(6.14) SE - Kent Hermance (15/29) - We needed one more receiver and didn't really like anyone here, but Hermance had some decent combine numbers compared to what was on the board.
(7.13) QB - Lewis Segers (19/58) - I thought this was a nice pick for the 7th round. We did want to walk away with one QB from this draft, just didn't think it would be so late. After Parrish we didn't really think there was a lot of difference near the top. I think Segers has some upside and could be a quality spot starter someday. I think camp will be unkind to him however.

Overall the draft was a success simply for Durham. If any of the others pans out it's gravy. We are the youngest team in the league, but we have some real talent. I like our future, especially on defense.

            1 - DE Joe Mallow 39/70
            2 - LT Ross Holliday 32/61
            3 - CB Corey Barnikow 25/61
            3.13 - SE Donny Denehey 24/51
            4 - ILB Damon Levine - 31/53
            5 - DT Jeffrey Atkins - 16/56
            6 - RB Perry Culbertson - 21/38
            7 - OLB Bert Duran - 25/35

Even though those will change, right now I'm really happy with how the draft turned out. With Charlotte still at least a year away from the playoffs, these guys will all have a chance to contribute, outside of Duran, and develop into productive roles for the team. I am definately going to throw a couple of them to the wolves and start them.

I was going to pick him at 4 ---- I was surprised to see his #'s so low --- I thought he would be more like 45/80 at a minimum...

I think they'll go up. He's only about 28% developed, and very high volatility.

Wait, is a high volatility good or bad?

Could be either. But in Durham's case, with his combine numbers I think it's a good thing.

I'm 99% certain they will go up. Pre-training camp numbers mean little. That being said, I'm very happy with the early numbers from Coles, England, Beason, and Godfrey. Looks like we got some good players.

2.22 - QB Ellis Stringer (25/57) - Even though Stringer spent his time at a small time school in the Ohio Valley Conference, our scouts believe he can be the QB to take our offense to the next level. He is a natural leader and also very bright.

3.21 - RT Bob Osborne (21/44) - Bob was the 3rd strongest T in the draft with his 33 reps in the bench press. We hope Bob can be a dominant run blocker like Fritz Harden has been over the past few seasons.

4.10 - SLB Vinny Ivey (21/56) - Look for Vinny to move to MLB and play behind Myers with the possibility of starting at that spot in 2010.

5.19 - LG Blake Fulton (20/47) - Blake looks like a good run blocker coming out of college, but will need to work on his pass protection.

6.18 - FS Shannon Rivera (20/49) - If he has a good training camp, Shannon will become the backup to Ethan Robinson. He is not a hard hitting FS, but he can play all types of defensive formations.

7.23 - DT Marco Wicker (15/38) - We took a shot at Marco, but it looks like we came up empty. Hopefully, he can be a good run stuffer for us because his pass rushing skills leave a lot to be desired.

Overall, I'm pretty happy. We got what we wanted in terms of a QB and a MLB plus we added another 1st Round pick for next season.
