Yes, thanks for the reminder Z. Everyone must be at 60 players by Sunday's sim.

Hey commish, can I please get a sim before preseason wk 1? I need to sign a WR, and I really don't want the game doing it for me. It wouldn't be a big deal, except we play in week 1. Thanks.

I guess I'm glad Skydog took Earl Goldsberry before I could get him in the 1st. I already had a post training camp bust in IHOF today, and two big busts in one day might have pushed me over the edge ;) Then again, Hugh Walton looks like a disappointment.

Speaking of which, Roy Parrish might not be the next coming as advertised. He still should be very good.

Stan Sweeney is looking like he could be a legit backup for us. Not bad for a 6th rounder.

Dusty England should make an immediate impact on our defense. I'll be surprised if he isn't among the league leaders in interceptions this year.

Our secondary has gone from a huge weakness to a unit with some talent. I'll be very disappointed if we don't make the playoffs this year.

How does the game handle holdouts at this point? I have 2 guys who are holding out who I've made offers to. Let's assume they'll sign. So I should then trim my roster down to 58 contracts? How does it handle playing those 2 guys for preseason week 1?

Holdouts are not considered under contract. Therefore, you will want to have space for them on the roster (and therefore trim your roster to 58 if you plan on them being part of your team.) They won't play in preseason week 1, unless you convince them to end their holdout before that time.

If they accept the offers I've made this sim, what happens? Will they be active or inactive for preseason week 1?

That QB I grabbed in the 7th, George Dahnke, is a 16/50. I guess that's not bad.

My 4th round WR, Malcolm Fadiman, is a 25/52.
                    2nd round T, Chuck Garrison, is a 22/47.
                    6th round Punter is a 60/61.

FA rookie RB is a 35/45.
FA rookie WR is a 23/40.
FA rookie CB is a 23/41.
                    FA rookie S is a 28/46.

I guess I'm happy. That's some much needed depth.

Well, "stunning" isn't really the right word there. When a player gains or loses that many points in his first camp, especially that many *current* points, it has nothing to do with how good or bad the pick was. Jim has verified that the very large training camp drops and increases of rookies are random and virtually unpredictable. It has also been tested. If you run training camp over and over again, the 850 or so guys that gain/lose 0 to 9ish current points will virtually all move in the same direction every time, with the exception of a small handful (usually less than 5) guys with larger gains/losses--and that group will be different every time. These big drops/losses are a little more likely for guys with higher volatility, but they're so rare that even that isn't something worth really taking into account. From the looks of things, only 3 of the 858 rookies in this class had a random boom or bust. I just got stuck with one of the busts. *shurg*

It's a good mechanism to have in the game, but it sucks when you're the unlucky one.

Absolutely. To have 2 in one day would have really upset me.
