Before a raucous crowd of over 56,000, Camden improves to 4-0 with a 26-6 dispatching of St Paul. Bandits QB Dusty Galloway, fresh off his 341-yard, 3 TD performance last week against Gainesville, was sacked twice and pressured into three interceptions by the optimistic Cutters defense on his way to a 36.5 QB rating for the game. Two of those INTs went to Louie Green, who now has 4 in 4 games and 17 in his 29 career starts at safety.

Martin Cothran finally threw his first interception in his stiffest test of the young season, but otherwise the offense moved the ball when it needed to and James Moreno continues to be among the most reliable placekickers in the game, knocking another 4 of 5 through the uprights. LB Moe Wolf continued his inspired play with 4 tackles, a forced fumble, and an interception.

Up next, 2-2 Dakota at home as we look to continue our best start in franchise history.

      Ohio Valley 13, Portland 20

      The Good
-Sammy Slade is unreal. He Finishes the game with 8 catches, 201 yards, 102 yac, 2 touchdowns. After todays game, he is on pace for 120 catches, 2,424 yards, and 20 touchdowns.
-The defense finally shows up! The 3-4 pass rush finished with 5 sacks, 4 hurries, and 1 knockdown. The run defense was good too, holding star RB Sherman Ellison to just 53 yards for a 2.94 average.
-QB Henry Andrews continues to prove that he can get Sammy Slade the ball. Despite a heavy pass rush, he finished 17/26 for 273 yards, 2 touchdowns, no picks, a 126 QB Rating.

      The Bad
-Penalties! 10 penalties, 75 yards. Gave Ohio Valley 3 first downs, and took a TD off the board for Portland.
-My pass protection was lacking. 4 sacks, 5 hurries, 6 knockdowns.

      Standings Check
      Kalispel (3-1) W
      Washington (3-1) L
      Anchorage (2-2) L
      Portland (1-3) W

      Next Week
@ (3-1) Washington Bombers. This is another must-win game to put the Phantoms back of the thick of things. If Portland wins, they would move to 2-3, dropping Washington to 3-2. Anchorage would at best be 3-2, and Kalispel 4-1, but they could both lose. Definitely a must win game.

        Argh... Hate gift wrapping games.

It's going to be a rough road with McGarrahan until he can progress a bit more. 4 int's, including one on the 1 yard line in the endzone and one at the end of the game that was returned for a TD.

Out gained Charlotte by 100 yards, yet anytime you lose the turnover battle 4/1 you're going to have trouble winning.

ARGH!!!! We just cannot catch a break. After starting out ugly against Utah, we settled down and had our chances to win but just could not take them. Our secondary without Hanson who is gone for the year got lit up once again. We have the ball on the Utah 12 yard line with 0.07 seconds left, Arsenault finds an open receiver in Hickman but is 3 yards short from the endzone. We lose another close one 21-13.

Offense and Defense finally show up in a huge 33-10 win over Gainesville. Fairly even 1st half and then an offensive explosion. QB Rico Whalen earns POTW honors after 286 yds 3TDS and 46 yds rushing. Much needed win for my sanity after starting 0-3. 1-4 looking likely with Columbus on deck.

              Wow, that was ugly.

Warren Poland never ceases to amaze me, 3 straight weeks of great play and in this game he posts a 5.1 QB Rating.

Linty's right, we might not have deserved this one, as McGarrahan definately struggled. But for the first 25 minutes we couldn't do anything wrong. Madison was something like 14-16 for 154 yards and a passing and rushing TD, we were up 17-0, and in FG range with about 3 minutes left in the half when Marlon threw an interception. Pearl Harbor scored before the half and it felt like it was going to be the turning point but our defense just kept coming up big on a lot of 3rd downs in the 3rd and 4th qtr. We've now matched our win total from last year, which is nice.

My Defense finally came to play. Offense this year is finally on track almost 27 pts per game. It is early . Buddy Offord came on huge 7 catches for 121 yds and a touchdown. Glad to see he made a full recovery.

I suggest everyone check out the box score for Denver's offense, that is what is as close to a perfect game as you get. My team actually came back at the end and as much as I hate to lose I have to say the right team won that game. Congrats Denver, your offense was awesome, my defense was pathetic.

I was actually hoping I would have the excuse of decent play to keep with the 4-3 defense the previos owner had when I took over the team. It has not been my style for some time and the fact that the defense was just pathetic IMO for the 2nd game this year, I think I will make the change to a 3-4 now. I don't know how many times I saw Denver have 10+ yard gains. I haven't been pissed off watching one of my teams play for a long time.

We went to Columbus and enjoyed our stay, to say the least.. I am very encouraged to see that kind of performance agaiinst a team of the caliber of Columbus.. Everything seems to be in order for a run at a repeat, but I know better than to speak with any confidence about that after a mere 4 games.

Lets just say the team looks good so far, heres hoping that we can continue to perform and avoid injuries as well as we have thus far.

                              GG Ben.
