  • QUARTERLY REPORT: TALK ABOUT YOUR TEAM!!!

I'm going to start one of these threads every 4-5 weeks in a season to allow owners to talk about there teams performance so far this year.

I dont think I could be more disappointed with this season so far. The Gaels are 1-3, 0-3 in the conference and 3 1/2 out of first place. Our defense sucks and has played below potential and our offense has struggled since the second half of the 2009 season. The only good news is we are stockpiling picks for next years draft.

Bombers are 4-1 and just made a big move to bring in an established DE to play alongside Roger Boren. With the new look defense, we dominated Portland forcing 3 fumbles and getting 3 interceptions and shutting them out in the process.

-Rodney Westbrook is playing out of his mind, 5 INTs (leads the league), 8 PDs, 15 Caught, 96% PDPct.
-Roger Boren has 6 sacks (leads the league).
-Warren Poland has been playing great minus the game against Lake County when he had 3 INTs, he hasn't thrown an INT in any other game this season.
-Randy Richardson hasn't been contributing but hopefully he shows why I picked him 3rd overall a few years ago (I say this every year..).
-Albert Porter leads the league in receptions and is tied for first for TDs with 5.
-Our defense gives up the least PPG, and 2nd in YPG allowed.

Overall, my team is playing great at the moment and I hope we perform like this the rest of the year and I can make the postseason for the first time.

The Portland Phantoms are 1-4 and appear to be headed towards a long season. Going into the year, I felt like I could compete in the AC West, and maybe sneak into the playoffs. After a 0-3 start, I decided to shop some of my veteran players.

      Players traded away:
FS Lenny Shaye - 11 year vet
WR Sammy Slade - 9 year vet
WLB Winston Chernetsky - 9 year vet
QB Kenny Gaylor - 11 year vet
CB Walt Everett - 7 year vet

      In return:
CB Nathan Brennan - 2 year vet
      1st round pick 2011 (Phoenix)
      3rd round pick 2011 (Columbus)
      3rd round pick 2011 (Utah)
      4th round pick 2011 (Gainesville)
      5th round pick 2011 (Dakota)
      2nd round pick 2012 (Phoenix)
      4th round pick 2012 (Phoenix)

Now at 1-4, it is going to take a miracle to make the post season, and if my game this week against Washington is any indication how the rest of the year will go (shutout, 35-0), I'm going to struggle. Doesn't help that I have one of the longest injury lists in the league. I will give some youngsters more playing time, but I'm not giving up. I can find some joy playing the role of spoiler.

The Riders sit at 1-4. We play in arguably the toughest division in the OSFL. The club started out 0-4 and most people around the league felt their season was over. Incredibly, the Riders acquired, not traded away, but acquired two playmakers. The league was shocked when the Riders partnered up with Portland to complete a blockbuster trade. Phoenix received Sammy Slade, one of the leagues best wide outs. The league is still wondering why an 0-4 team would trade away next seasons 1st for a 9 year veteran. The Riders then went out and got safety Kelly Daniels from Punxsutawney. Daniels is one of the best free safeties in the league. The Riders won their first game of the season after the trades were completed.

The team has struggled offensively. But the acquisition of Slade should open up the offense a little. Right now we are in the bottom tier of offenses. I saw some improvement in the Waco game.

Defense has played better then the stats show. The defense is a product of an ineffesctive offense. We added a playmaker in Daniels to help it out. The defense played much better against Waco.

        Special teams are horrible.

It has been a disappointing season so far. I knew my offense lacked play makers, but I thought it would be better then it is performing. Defensively, Im not real shocked. The defense is doing a pretty good job not allowing points. Special teams need to improve.

          We absolutely suck.

Growing pains for sure... McGarrahan threw another two picks last game... including one returned for the game winning INT.

He's going to be a stud, but I'm very worried about his hidden INT rating... I have a feeling it is awfully low.

Defensively I'm pretty happy with how we've played... just need for the offense to come around.

Sacks are also killing the passing game... not sure what the big problem is there... but I'd like to see it get fixed sometime soon.

Well going into the season, some said we were tanking the season when we traded our 1st round pick, yet here we are in first place with an extra 1st and 2nd rounder in our pockets next year.

We are 3-1, but the reality is we could be 1-3. What I like is that my team seems to have more "fight" in them this year. But we aren't a great team by any means. Still with our division, I think we at least have a shot, but most likely will end up with 7-8 wins.

I think revamping our entire coaching staff was our best off season move.

                I did!

As much as a "crappy QB" he is, with an "enormous contract", I really think he was a good addition, even if I had to get him to make the contracts work. My scout has him rated 50/50 (very good at scouting QBs), with really solid bars. And for as bad as he was made out to be, he had some decent seasons in OHV. If he doesn't retire in the off-season, which I expect, i have a decision to make. If he comes in rated in the 40s, I will probably hang onto as a backup. My starter Henry Andrews takes a lot of sacks, and has missed a few games. If not, I can cut Kalter for no cap hit. Because he was acquired in a trade, PHX had to pay all the bonus. Kalter is on the books for one more year at $5.3 million. If he is cut, I'm off scotch free.

We made the choice to build from the ground up in the beginning. It has resulted in 4 painful seasons. While there is a long way to go things look promising.

Top five in points scored , fewest points allowed and total defense.

QB- Nikolaus is a solid performer, likely to never be a start but enough to help the team
RB- Taylor is a good leader and a decent all around back, Deron Talley provides great relief
WR- The team has been so successful running the ball early this season that no a lot of chances for these guys. But make no mistake it is a talented bunch. One of the best groups in the OSFL
OL Very Solid . The Stags are 2nd in rushing yards this season and have kept Nikolaus well protected
DL Team could not afford to keep long time stud Wally Turner and have turned to youth. JJ Horowitz is starting to lose a step. This unit is only going to get better
LB Billy Joe Herdon is a proven player in the middle. Wesley Watson is solid on the strong side . The rest of the bunch is young and unproven
DB Steve Stone is very underated and is the second leading tackler in league history. He is simply a punisher. Stags believe they have the top defensive backfield in the game. First Round pick Lincoln Ramsey's man to man skills have allowed veteren Chester Mayberry to pick up his game. Leland Ernst has already picked off 4 passes. Vetern Wayne Kushto rounds out the class that can cover you or knock your teeth out.

The team is set to make its first legit run at the division title.

I'm fairly disappointed in the Totems play thus far. I really expected more out of Parrish and I do think he will turn it on as Frye continues to develop. It's interesting that, despite the amazing speed and scrambling ability he possesses, Parrish has yet to bust a run for more than 10 yards in his career. I'm not sure why Rookie RB Powell is getting so many freaking carries, almost as many as Whalen??? It might be time for me to step in and tinker with the gameplan since HAL is trying to throw a little much.

All that being said, I'm still confident we can scrape out a Division Title...

The beginning of the season was making last year look like a fluke. But to my relief, we have pulled out the last two bring us to 2-3, and put us back in contention for the division title. Allen had a rough start to the year but a lot of that can be attributed to me running the wrong gameplan for this team. My defense was one of the most impressive facets of our team in 2009 but this year we've been very BLAH. I'm looking for that nice win last week to keep us rolling against undefeated Camden next week.

                          Port City

Well the season started off great for Port CIty... 2 consecutive wins... since then its went down hill... with 2 straight losses PC made a change to its rookie QB... the good news is that this years rookie class is contributing and playing well... 2nd round pick Brandon Prior who got off to a good start went down for the year, which was a huge stick in the side..PC feels if the defense can play a little more consistant, and we can get decent play from rookie QB Doug Shields then we can make a run from the playoffs... also we need to hope to get a few balls bouncing are way cause so far turnover and penalties have came at the worst times.... 2-3, but still positive...

Man, it's nice to have a good QB. I like my Jags overall, but boy, my defense needs some work.
