I may be gone, but the Rankings live on.
1. Camden (7-0)
Last Week: 1
Score: 2.527
After back to back division titles in 2007 and 2008 the Cutters sank to a disappointing 6-10 in 2009. But Cothran and company have bounced back in 2010 and have already topped their win total from a year ago. Camden shouldn't have too much difficulty adding to their league best record in the coming weeks. After traveling to 5-2 Chicago this week, the next team currently sporting a winning record that the Cutters have to face is the South Maryland Jaguars, in Week 17.
2. Lake County (7-1)
Last Week : 2
Score: 2.091
Who would have thought at the end of last season that midway through the 2010 campaign the two best teams in the league would be coming out of the NC and AC Eastern divisions? Lake County dominated their opponents in the first four games of the season, but after a week 5 loss to Motor City they've only managed narrow victories over their last three opponents. The Xtreme host Kalispel this week, before traveling next week to take on last year's AC East champs, Ohio Valley.
3. Denver (6-1)
Last Week: 3
Score: 2.070
For the third consecutive year Denver defeated their division rivals, the Utah Bees, in their second meeting of the season after having lost the first meeting. And for the third consecutive year the Grizzlies look to be headed to the playoffs, but this time not as a Wild Card team. Their victory over Utah was enough to give Denver the lead in the AC West, but it wasn't quite enough to push them ahead of Lake County for the #2 spot in the Rankings. A victory over AC South leading New Orleans next week might just do the trick, however.
4. Yuma (6-2)
Last Week: 5
Score: 1.991
Their victory over lowly Charlotte was enough to push the Aces ahead of Columbus (a team they beat 42-14 in Week 4) and into the #4 spot, but with two losses already on their record Yuma is going to need some wins against some more impressive opponents to move up any further. Unfortunately for the Aces, their next opponent is Pearl Harbor.
5. Columbus (6-2)
Last Week: 4
Score: 1.694
There's never really a "good" week to lose to a division rival, but at least for the Catfish they decided to take that loss on the same week when almost everyone ranked below them lost as well. Like Camden, Columbus is another perennial playoff team bouncing back from a disappointing 2009 campaign but the Catfish might have a tougher time than the Cutters in keeping up their comeback, as five of Columbus' next six opponents currently have winning records.
6. Chicago (5-2)
Last Week: 10
Score: 1.643
At the beginning of the season there were four questions on everyone's mind when it came to the NC North division. Would North Liberty continue their newfound winning ways? Could Saint Paul find someway to take back the division crown? How long would it take for Roy Parrish emerge as the superstar everyone knew he would be? And who is the other team in the NC North again? Five wins later, along with losses by all four teams ranked above them, and suddenly the Reapers are now the #6 team in the Rankings.
7. Utah (5-2)
Last Week: 6
Score: 1.638
A four point loss to Pearl Harbor in Week 2 should have been a warning sign, but after their overtime victory against Memphis in Week 5 and three touchdown drubbing of Phoenix the next week, it looked like Utah was back on track. Now the Bees find themselves in the very unfamiliar position of trailing another team in the race for the AC West division title.
8. Ohio Valley (5-3)
Last Week: 13
Score: 1.581
The Showboats rocketed up the Rankings five slots this week after knocking off the AC North leading Washington Bombers. Ohio Valley won the AC East last season, only because somebody had to, but look to be a better team this year. Their defense has given up a league low 14.1 points so far this season and their offense has come alive the last three weeks. The defending AC East champs have a tough couple of games ahead of them however, with a visit from division rival Motor City and a trip to 7-1 Lake County on tap.wdw
9. Morgantown (4-3)
Last Week: 12
Score: 1.572
At this point last season the Maniacs were 8-0 and alone at the top of the Rankings. But things haven't gone quite so well for the boys from Morgantown as of late. While they were able to avenge their loss in last year's Conference Title game with a win over Yuma in Week 5, the Maniacs find themselves only one game over .500 and looking up at a resurgent Columbus squad sitting atop the NC South.
10 Las Vegas (4-3)
Last Week: 7
Score: 1.566
A bit strange to see a team barely above .500 and coming off a loss here in the Top 10. The Outlaws are a team right in the middle of a logjam of "just above average" teams that runs between #8 Ohio Valley and #13 Washington. The closeness in scores between all of the these teams all but guarantees another shakeup in the in this part of the Rankings next week, but if Los Vegas can pull out a win against the Columbus Catfish they should be able to at least hold onto the #10 spot.
