2011 DRAFT DISCUSSION THREAD

The draft starts tomorrow at 10am! Rumors coming out of Portland say that the Phantoms are not taking RB Shedrick Allen with the #1 pick.

I started the draft a little early because I'm going to be away from the computer at 10. Pat was on autopick so the utilty made the selection for him. Brooklyn is now up but will not officially be on the clock until 10.

With the first pick of the OSFL Draft, the Portland Phantoms select:

The Brooklyn Hitman select WR Courtney Bensen of Auburn.

Wow. WR Courtney Benson with the 2 pick. His numbers are impressive.

Analysis:

Bensen has great numbers and he has star potential. I thought he was the best WR in the draft by far. I dont think Bensen will have an immediate effect because Brooklyn has no one to throw him the ball right now. Also, Brooklyn could have probably moved down, picked up a few extra picks, saved some cap room and still picked up Bensen a few slots down.

I dont think Bensen will have an immediate effect because Brooklyn has no one to throw him the ball right now. Also, Brooklyn could have probably moved down, picked up a few extra picks, saved some cap room and still picked up Bensen a few slots down.

Though not as GM savvy as some, I see QB/WR success as reciprocal. My 2nd year QB really has no one like a Benson to throw to who can make a difference. Though next year or year after I may have to find another QB if Bryant does not develop.
