  • [Rule Discussion] Trades

    There is no Rules in the league to cover what just happened between Las Vegas and Portland, I would like to know from the GMs what are the thoughts about the following rule to be implemented, then if itīs supported, we will go with the votation process to validate it.

    * Once a trade is agreed and posted by one of the parts, it canīt be cancelled while awaiting for confirmation, neither the item to trade to be used in another trade agreement. Doing so will result in the loss of the 1st Round pick in the following year.
    Miami Sharks (BLB)
    * BLB Champions --> 2017, 2020.

    Ohio River Sharks (OSFL)
    * OSFL Bowl CHAMPION > 2036, 2047.

    So do be perfectly clear, the rule would be that once a trade is agreed to in principle and a party posts the trade, neither party is permitted to commit any of the agreed-to assets elsewhere unless the trade fails to go through for some reason?

    Is there a reasonable time frame in which we can expect a confirmation of a trade? I am thinking of players who are trying to move a draft pick with the clock winding down. For example, if a person agreed to a trade away their pick with two hours left on the clock, but it gets down to 15 mins and there has been no communication or confirmation from the other side, I don't think it's unfair to cancel and accept another offer. Both parties should be responsible for posting and confirming in a reasonable amount of time. By the same token, the person confirming the trade needs to be allowed a reasonable amount of time to respond before the trade can be cancelled.

    This comment isn't meant to refer to what just happened, it's a hypothetical issue that I could see happening. Enforcement would probably have to come down to the commish deciding whether or not someone's actions were reasonable.

      1) Yes, once a trade is agreed to in principle and a party posts the trade...

      2) What do you think is a reasonable time?

      3) This thread means no harm intend or offence to the parties involved, I think is necessary for any league the Commisioner and the GMs to move towards the same direction, which is to make the leagues more enjoyable and to learn through situations making rules to not repeat the same mistakes twice.

        I think the 'reasonable time' is the part that would have to come at the discretion of the commish. Giving away the pick to someone else with fifteen minutes left on the clock is reasonable if it's been posted for two hours, not reasonable if it's been posted for five minutes.

          I would say 30 minutes if it includes Draft picks during the Draft period, as there is constraints with time.

          During regular season 24 hours as there is more time available between SIMs.

            Sorry everyone, I did not mean to cause a problem and I am trying to fix issue as I am willing to be pentilized a future 1st or give Matt my next pick. Last night I had taken medication and was having hard time staying awake and not think about timer stopping for the night after 32 pick. I was afraid, Matt would not get pick or Rob, So I told Shark what happened and I am more than willing to accept a penality.
