Back-loading contracts, to take advantage of a loophole in the game, it's not fair play. The players will be released with it's consequent cap hit and be back to the Free Agent Pool in the next SIM. Consider yourself given a warning.

I don't think there's much of a point in backloading like that anyway with the newest version of FOF, as players will effectively ignore contract backloading after a certain point. I don't know for sure whether a meaningless $60m final year carries precisely the same weight as a meaningless $6m final year to a UFA, but I think (or maybe hope) so.

Also bear in mind that when the game is calculating the value of the Franchise Tags, takes into consideration an average of the Top 5 salaries ($s, but not bonus) at the position. So if we backload the salaries, imagine what will happen with the Franchise tags.
I am happy if GMs want to give $18474910184748191 Bonus for the duration of the contract, as the amount will be limited by the finances of the team and will count against their cap if it's decided to part ways with the player.

My post was intended to discourage the practice, as backloading is no longer a useful tool for landing contested free agents. I don't think we should be doing it because it's one of those game-the-system things that breaks immersion and forces bizarre competitive practices, but in addition to all that and being against the rules, it seems like it doesn't even really help in landing the player to begin with.

Please feel free to spot any flaws or abuses identified and I will go through them.
