Week 1 completed, next SIM Saturday at 8 am eastern
Our defense gave up over 600 yards. Our offense gained less than 270 yards. I wish I could say that the inflated numbers were entirely due to San Fran being forced to throw all game because they were behind, but they ran the ball 27 times for 186 yards. That San Francisco offense is just brutal.
Wagner was outstanding, completely unstoppable all game, except for the three interceptions he threw. We win, 35-27, with the clutch Play of the Game coming from our brand new MLB Gabe Schultz: a 92 yard interception return was absolutely the 10 or 14 point swing that turned the game in our favor. Welcome to the islands, my friend!
Our backup QB played a quiet, efficient game, and the defense forced enough mistakes to pull one out of the hat. Whew. This game is going to pretty skew our season stat line pretty badly, at least early on and especially on defense, but I will always take a win. Utah's up next... Go Wayfinders!!
Nothing better than pulling a W on the road against a Divisional rival.
All our new incomers had great games and Ciszek cameback to his old self, same than Poston, for good and for bad as both coughed a couple of costly mistakes that almost costed us the W.
The rust was officially saken and now we have to improve starting woth this performance.
Go Sharks!

A little bit of a rough start, but our whole offense was rusty because they didn't see the field at all in preseason. We still might have pulled it out, but we got a late go ahead TD called back due to a penalty and couldn't recover from that.
Looks like it will be more of the same in Punxsutawney this season: defense and prayers. We pulled out the 17-7 win thanks to the D-line, which got 6 sacks and 10 hurries. Swift set a franchise sack record last season, and started this year off with 3. Adding Jordan to the interior of the line hopefully helped free him up.
