Rookie GMs trading 1st Round picks.

We had in the last few seasons a tendency for veteran GMs, targetting 1st Round picks of Rookie GMs who recently joined the league.

Some of those Rookie GMs have left the league without saying a word, simply erasing themselves from the world, leaving excellent draft positions for the veteran GMs.

As we can't force anyone to stay in the league and be competitive, the only thing I can think of is ban the trade of 1st round picks, until their first full season is finished.

I think we should give new GMs the benefit of the doubt that they intend to stay for more than 1 offseason. So as long as they aren't being taken advantage of (i.e. as long as the trade isn't clearly disadvantageous to the new guy) I would prefer that all GMs have full control of their teams.

I agree. I would say that there may be exceptions where a trade should be stopped from being processed but that should only be happening where it is clearly disadvantageous to the new guy. I think we have a good enough league and friendly enough with new GMs that are new players to the game and the games multiplayer environment. Otherwise most people have experience with it and should be able to have full control of their teams.

A compromise could be requiring the trade to be conditional, I've always thought that was a good way to trade away a 1st

Making it conditional pending review would be a good compromise, agreed. It doesn't revoke the flexibility but does put in some protections.
