The Best RB Combo in the OSFL

Well, technically the article said "One reason for this is perhaps the greatest season for a RB combo ever."

I was simply interjecting my opinion of the greatest COMBO RB season ever. And, if they get to 2200 yards and 15 TDs... I still miss how that's better than 2400 yards and 17 TDs....

I get why you interjected and just wanted to clarify that the article was more focused on this season but I still think that they are arguably the best ever.

In 1984, Eric Dickerson ran for 2100 yds. That same year Dwayne Crutchfield ran for 337 for the same team. They combined for over 2400 yds. Ive never heard anyone argue that the Dickerson/Crutchfield combo from 1984 was on of the greatest rushing duos ever. They say that was an incredible year by Dickerson. Same for 2006 in the OSFL.

The only difference imo between Dickerson/Crutchfield and Clements/Moon is Moon had more Tds. While Moon's 7 tds is impressive, once you dig into the stats it wasnt that impressive of a season. Zero 100 yd games. More than half of his Tds were short yardage Tds. He really only had 2 good games that year (against Mepphis and St. Paul).

I think it was a legendary year by Clements and a solid season by Moon but that doesnt add up to the greatest RB combo ever imo.

I'm going to agree with aholbert here. To me Clement/Moon season looks like the 2006 Giants where they totaled 2156 yards and 14 touchdowns. However it wasn't really a two-back system as Tiki got 1660 of those yards. Jacobs got the most touchdowns (9) but only 400 yards. Despite Jacobs' later success, the Giants were very much a one-back team and that season will be remembered for Tiki's play, not Tiki and Jacobs.

Clement's season was fantastic but anyone could have filled in for Moon and got the same production, because it was a one-back system.

I never thought this article would cause this much discussion...and I like it. I saw what Clay was doing in the BLB with his weekly articles and I thought that would be a good idea for the OSFL. I was going to right about Corey Lincoln's amazing yet dissapointing career (next week) but I looked at Yuma's stats and was shocked to see that they had 2 guys close to running for 1000 yds each. Expect more of these emails as the database mkes it much easier to find stats and find things to write about.

I still think my 39/39 and 36/36 rated RBs are the best. They are playing way over their bars. And succeeding in this league.
They will never get 2000 yards between them but they mayend up with 1500 yards and 18 TDs.
