OR you can learn to draft real well. Make a couple trades that get you the key guys you want. And pick up that above average (50 rated types) FA that will help your squad.

Why does every league have to be a FA frenzy?

I like the financial setup as is. I think the thing that took me so long to realize is that you can't base what contract you offer in FA based off of the player's demands, you have to base it off of the cap available. If everyone did that we would eventually reach the point where guys get released because of cap reasons; what is the difference between a guy with a 10 million cap hit getting released with a 90 million cap and a guy with a 20 million cap hit getting released with a 140 million cap?

I would be, however, down with the 1 year contract restrictions discussed before this year.

The only things that are going to make the cap hard to manage are extreme steps like forcing all FA deals to be at least 3 years in length so that big money has to be tied up for longer periods of time to sign a key FA, only allowing renegotiations in the final year of a contract, eliminating the franchise tag, and only allowing one player per year to be traded from a roster.

You have to constrict more of the freedom an owner has to spend their money, not so much the amount of money there is to spend.

We all have the same amount of cap room, it shouldn't be any different from one guy to the next as far as how level the playing field is. If the goal is to somehow close the gap between the vets and the noobs, I don't think finances are the answer. Just like in the real NFL, some owners/GMs know what theyre doing, others don't.

One of the biggest things I have noticed is that there are almost always two or three teams in every FOF league who are constantly trading away young talent and rebuilding. That is definitely one big reason why their teams are not doing well.. No continuity, just a steady cycle of young players being used for a year or two, then dealt for another high draft pick.

There is definitely more than enough information on the FOFC forum about ways to manipulate the gameplan and ways to build a roster and make your team better - I think thats where the noobs should be if they need some tips. I learned all the little extras I needed from there, then toyed around with different ideas in SP (which was invaluable to my growth as a game planner) before joining an MP league. I have been adjusting strategies on a season to season basis since then.

We're getting to a golden era in FOF MP history, IMO. There are more than enough strategies out there floating around, teams and GMs have developed identities - There are utilities and FAQs for everything dealing with FOF.. I don't think the playing field needs to be leveled to make things change, I think it comes with time.
