Gah, I'm sorry. I had players set in the util, but I'm used to the newer one and didn't take that extra step to give them numbers.

I'm going to be out for the rest of the day. I have some players loaded up, but if I'm not around, please do a BPA for me. Thanks.

Already to the middle of the 2nd round.

Clay is at a family reunion so he will probably miss his pick and then we will likely be rolling after.

I could be looking to move up into the top of the 3rd round. I don't have the ammo to move up into the back half of the 2nd, but those in the early 3rd looking to trade down, shoot a PM my way or call me up in the draft utility. We'll see how these next 10 picks go.

              2.21 - Portland Phantoms - Stan Conrath - S - Arizona State - 6'1 231lbs

Pretty excited to see Conrath slide until the late 2nd round. The Phantoms had been working the phones behind the scenes. I almost moved up in the first but actually ended up trading out of it completely. I was deciding between three players at 1.31, Conrath being one of them and got lucky that he lasted.

He is a big safety at 6'1 231. Probably would benefit from losing a few pounds actually. According to his bars and combine, he looks like he could be pretty special. The highest rated safety by far in the entire draft at a need position. He had the only red agility score and a blue sole score and the highest (blue) position specific drill score. Leads me to believe that he should be very good in run support, zone, play diagnosis and interceptions. He won't bring much as far as man-to-man coverage and despite his size he isn't a very big hitter. He will see immediately playing time, likely at both safety spots behind starters Thurman Joyner and Ray Kohberger.

Yeah Conrath looks like a beast.

I was hoping to snag Conrath in round 3 and move him to SLB.

Portland should be getting really good sometime soon. Pat had a great draft last year and another pretty good one this year so far (too early to tell before TC, after all). Got the guy he wanted in the middle of the 2nd and now has 2 future first rounders to show for it.

Meanwhile, Rico Dietz is the Bees' quarterback of the future...for now.

Utah hasn't drafted an early round QB since I took over. Passed up on stud ILB Alfred Enochs who went to Washington at 2.25 to get Dietz at 20. Chandler was my first choice, but went to Yuma at 16. I was really high on Chandler despite the risk (2% development) and liked Dietz, but not as much. Still, if I didn't take Dietz, then I wasn't going to take a QB in this draft.

I can only hope he turns out like Brant Liebman, who's about to step into a starting role at South Maryland/Baltimore, but that may be wishful thinking. Wynn and Foy are some old dudes and I need a new QB. Didn't want to pin all my hopes on the draft next year.

My prediction: he's gonna be my John Beck and I'm gonna need a Chad Henne in next year's draft. And hope that Wynn's ratings hold. Pretty optimistic about my 4th round corner, Richie Ingram, who I hope will break my streak of mid-round corners who get training camp hits. The youth movement needs to start at, well, almost every position :P

By the way -- Utah is forfeiting its 5.17 pick voluntarily since I forgot to make last cuts and went through training camp with way too many players last year. TCGate, as it were :).

I just realized I should announce this so it doesn't come as a surprise and people thinking about trading around in the 5th can adjust appropriately, since this makes say, moving down from 5.16 to 5.18 pretty pointless, and so on. So a head's up to y'all. I'll be taking the bottom-ranked punter and not signing him or cutting him before TC to simulate losing the pick.

And Yuma snags the TE I was hoping would fall to me in round 4. Whiting is going to be a beast.

I was kind of hoping the same thing.

With the 3rd pick of the 6th round, the Las Vegas Outlaws select Wide Receiver Hugh Fears. Heh. I like this name. Even more than Columbus 4.32 WR Rex Beers. I think Fears won't be that great though, so it's a pity...
