    I've always tried using the cut test just for fun, I didn't know there was any methodology to it or it was even referred to by a name. It does seem pretty reliable though, not sure what the reasoning behind it is. Even more unsure with the 'look at other teams' scout', because I figure that has a ton to do with the scout ratings and the scout's YT rating.

    But maybe the thought is that your own scout sees young players on your own team better than on other teams. No idea.

    Denver's rookies:

    -Holds his ratings with the cut test. I think he will drop at TC but not very much. Looks to be a very solid move.

    1 - 27 Bubba Corbett - 26/53
    -27/55

    2 - 10 Harvey Borders - 23/40
    -23/41 with the cut test. Maybe he will not boom as much as I thought but still a starter in the making.

    2 - 27 Broderick Westbrook WR - 25/47
    -25/47

    3 - 9 Phil Browning WR - 22/55
    -22/56. Hm.

    4 - 10 Alonzo Gerard RB - 31/58
    - 30/56. Holy cow. How'd you see this out of him? Blitz pickup, I guess?

    5 - 9 Winston Guest ILB - 14/28
    -15/29

    6 - 10 Lamar Shields C - 25/70
    -24/67. Still a solid, solid, solid pick. Damn. No combine guy, huh.

    7 - 9 Billy Torres CB - 26/41
    -25/40
    I thought I paid more attention to this draft than the CFL one that was going on concurrent, but judging by the results, not past the first round...yet to sign any rookies, so no cut test for me yet.

    1.14 QB Randy Boone 9/34
    4.19 RB Ken Schacht 26/32
    3.27 CB Devin Buckner 15/24
    6.17 MLB Percy Hampton 16/28
    4.11 LT Cole Ferguson 22/44
    7.16 OG Jared Francis 18/40
    3.16 TE Britt Peters 36/56
    5.18 DE Jermaine Mahoney 13/35

    A lot of guys who came in low that will have to rise a great deal for me to be impressed. If nothing else, it seems I've found a QB and TE in this draft. Was expecting more out of the later picks, though. Hampton was a screw-up of a pick, Buckner...an auto pick I felt okay about, but that's the guy I gave up Marchion for? rando is laughing all the way to the bank.

      Just FYI - a difference in scouting does not really appear with year 1 players. You do not start to see large(ish) differences until the player starts to develop. If both of us looked at a player in FA, we might see a 1 point difference between scouts on future/current ratings on a rare occasion, but as far as I can tell that's it.

      I think that that YT rating has more of an impact on interviews and also on narrowing the blue bars than anything else.

        Bubba Corbet moves to OLB and gains in ratings. I now see him at 26/55. Cut test says 26/57. I can't wait to see what he does in camp.

          I usually save moves for after TC just to be more sure I am getting a reliable read from the TC unmasking. Could be just paranoia though! I think Bubba is a stud for sure, however. People gotta stop giving you draft picks.

            I do not know if that is good practice. I could be wrong, but I think some moves can be less risky/have more of a chance of players holding their ratings if you make the move in their rookie season, before TC. For example, the RT to LT move. I remember one case where I could move my RT to LT without penalty before TC. After TC (and with no weight change) the text said he would only retain 97%.

            In any case, as long as you make the move early enough you can still get the proper read (so I just need to make the read off the 26/55 for Bubba). But if you make the move immediately before TC, then you are stuck. At least, that is what I have come to believe.

              It's a little tough to judge, as I position-switched four of these picks in the same sim, but overall, looks like a pretty solid bunch.

              1.19 - S Edgar Stone - 41/57 -> 42/55 (moved to RCB) - Looks perfect for the position. He & Graham should make a formidable duo for a long while.

              1.32 - C Donovan Mark - 37/76 -> 39/77 (moved to RG) - I was really worried about this one, as it's always risky moving OL from the inside out. I needed a RG, and he looks awesome.

              2.32 - RB Norbert Rodgers - 38/62 -> 16/49 (moved to SE) - camp looks awful, except it was the move to WR that hurt his ratings. That being said, he still looks like a pretty good WR prospect, and high KR assures him a spot.

              3.32 - QB Nicky Fortenberry - 14/34 -> 17/35 (+3/+1) - Interesting, could be a creeper. Have to resolve a conflict with him and another leader, though.

              4.16 - WR James Beaty - 19/33 -> 24/34 (+5/+1) - Nice, I'll take that for a 4th round WR. Good BPR, decent GD... gets a spot.

              4.32 - S D.J. Metcalf - 29/46 -> 31/48 (moved to LCB) - excellent. All the sudden, my defensive backfield got real young and real deep.

              5.32 - C Harvey Moss - 24/47 -> 29/48 (+5/+1) - Perfect. Drafted as a backup C, fits the bill.

              6.32 - DT Gus Bronson - 20/49 -> 22/48 (+2/-1) - Depth pick, looks good.

              7.32 - TE Lamont Lake - 16/43 -> 19/42 (+3/-1) - That'll do, pig.

              Exceptional draft for being in the #32 spot, I think. One new starter each on offense and defense, so shouldn't mess up the cohesion too much either.

                Post TC

                1.28 - WILB Norbert Daigle (41/67 --> 45/66) - Looks like our LB corps is going to be one to reckon with.

                2.29 - TE Subby Franklin (30/41 --> 35/48) - Subby went up as we thought. However, we were hoping to get more of a pass catching TE and Subby looks like he will strictly be a blocking TE. Luckily we were able to sign undrafted FA TE Cary Ross who looks like he will be in the game as our pass catching TE.

                3.28 - CB Terry Castellanos (21/48 --> 24/44) - Meh. Terry will start the year on the bench and might see action in the Dime if we run into injuries.

                4.29 - C Conrad Olds (29/68 --> 36/67) - Conrad might very well start from day 1.

                5.28 - RB Alfred Campbell (30/48 --> 31/44) -RB's did not have a good TC in Anchorage. Matthew Ruth started to show his age and Campbell did not impress. The backup slot behind Jenness is definitely wide open.

                6.29 - P Teddy Curtis (38/52 --> 37/48) - Teddy was unable to beat out undrafted FA P Seth Hammond for the starting punter role.

                7.28 - DT Oscar Grosz (14/27 --> 16/31) - We didn't even bother to sign Oscar yet and he still went up...Hmmmmmm

                    I spent $14 million combined on a UDFA safety and linebacker, just to watch them both drop about 10 points. Not combined, each.

                    Trying to find some way to convince myself to fit that safety in somewhere still.

                      I was really high on an UFA safety and he bombed in camp. Fortunately, he didn't cost me too much. Meanwhile, an UFA QB I signed for league minimum as an afterthought went up in camp and I'm keeping him over by 5th round QB.
