How does Norbert Edwards lose out as best TE?

He's ranked #1 by Ben's system... and he has better stats than first teamer Nathan Garrett of Dakota.

    What gives?

Edwards - 79 catches, 886 yards, 4 TD's, ranked as #1 TE according to DogBytes.

Garrett - 45 catches, 655 yards, 7 TD's, ranked as #2 TE according to DogBytes.

Hell, Edwards didn't even get second team honors!

He's the only player listed as the #1 player at his position not to be recognized.

He's not the #1 player at his position. All #1 players at position are first team.

        Yes he is.

Even his 'score' of 508 is first place among all TE's.

No, it's the #1 receiving score among TEs.

So, since I don't use my TE's to block, they're penalized at the end of the year?

He's the 91st best blocking TE.

I see that now. I didn't know blocking figured into the TE position for end of the year awards.

It's not that you're not using him. He was terrible at it.

Of course it does. Tight ends block and receive. I don't ignore one set of stats. (Neither does Jim in-game.)

Kinda surprised he didn't make a pro bowl team though. Media/popularity contest as it were, would've thought the OSFL press would go ga-ga over huge receiving yards and not worry too much if he isn't a great blocker.

Although, I wonder how much yards-per-target is factored into both the selections, and the position ranking. He was only 7.1 in that category. My TE (Hawley) was the lowest of the four pro bowl tight ends in YPT, and he was 8.1.

Pro Bowl is hard-coded to be x number per position in each conference. (Way easier that way.) I think I have two TEs. If the top two were in the same conference, that's why.

That was my thought as well.

                          Oh well, lesson learned.
