  • What to do with a holdout?

Being the rookie that I am I franchised Barry Perras, my 72/72 RCB without looking and he'd been franchised the previous two years also. Now he's a little unhappy and his agent informs me he would just as soon be poked in the eye with a sharp stick then sign with me. What options do I have or what suggestions can anyone give me?

Well I'd be open to a reasonable offer as I did get the "never resign" message, right before I poked him in the eye with a sharp stick.

I have a holdout and he has 2 yrs left on his contract. So you can't offer him more money you are just screwed. Since he signed a rookie contract it isn't like you ever actually negotiated with him. I gave him max rookie contract.

I think in the case where your player is holding out, you should be free to negotiate regardless of how many years are left on his contract.

Here , here. We should have an owner vote on the subject.

i say do it, the spirit of the rule was to keep people from endlessly renegotiating so players would never hit FA and there would NEVER be cap issues. this is clearly not the case

Yea, I vote skip voting as well ;P I don't see the need for such formality with a case like this.

I agree. The game itself is presenting you with a situation that you should be able to react to. You wouldn't be in violation of the spirit of the rule in a case like this IMO.

Concur. Negotiate away. This situation falls outside the spirit of the rule.
