  • Denver: week 13 stats update

What a week as Corbett takes the lead for defensive player of the year with his monster performance:

    1 SLB Bubba Corbett (DEN) 1,061.3, 83 tkl, 22 ast, 5.5 sk, 4 hur, 9 qbkd, 3 int.

The next best player has 976 points, which is a fairly big lead. Very impressive since 1) Corbett missed a game earlier in the season 2) He played other games injured and not at full strength.

In terms of my rookies, McCloud has moved up to #9 on the defensive player of the year award and has a commanding lead for defensive rookie of the year. Actually, I think there is an argument that he is rookie of the year to date, given that the top offensive rookie (Greg Diblasio) only has 488.8 points.

    1 LCB Kurt McCloud (DEN) 799.9 5 int, 10 passdef, 27 ctc, 353 psply, 86.1 pdpct, 35 tkl, 9 ast. 1(20)
    2 WLB Carlos Melnick (DEN) 594.6, 28 tkl, 12 ast, 7.5 sk, 6 hur, 0 qbkd, 0 int. 4(17)
    6 SILB Kendall Downs (DEN) 487.2, 49 tkl, 23 ast, 3 sk, 2 hur, 0 qbkd, 0 int. 2(26)
    15 RCB Bobby Wrighster (DEN) 380.7 1 int, 5 passdef, 16 ctc, 252 psply, 80.7 pdpct, 19 tkl, 6 ast. 1(15)

Still one game missing from the stats but I guess that won't get fixed... I suppose we'll just say that the stats people were on strike that week or something?

Oh, I'd say McCloud is definitely having a better year overall than Diblaiso. I'm running Diblaiso as part of a two headed monster and Clevinger seems to be getting all the TDs, while putting up a much better YPA than Diblaiso. But I'm happy with how my rookie has played even though he gets killed by the good run defenses. He's put up some stinkers this year.

All I can do is dream about what might have been if my offensive line hadn't been so ravaged by injuries and then McCumber himself being hurt for 5 weeks.

I wish that I had McCumber. Not that I would trade McCloud for him... But I'd almost definitely take him over Wrighster.

You're crazy, Chuck. With McCloud and Wrighster you're set at CB for years. It's way easier to find starting RBs than it is to find starting CBs of their talent.

I dunno. Wrighster is still a wild card for me. He looks to have room to drop some more although his current/future rating is off in terms of his development. I still have some hope that he might be a 70s rated CB but I'm just not so sure.

On the other hand, Cucumber is a stud. He currently shows as the 4th rated RB in the league and I project that he will go even higher than that. His stats are not showing it yet but I think he will be a 5 ypc back once he has a decent offensive line around him.

I do agree somewhat in that I would take an 80/80 CB over an 80/80 RB. But a 80/80 RB vs a 60/60 CB? I don't think so. 80/80 RB vs a 70/70 CB? I'm not so sure.
