  • 2020: 2 strengths & 2 weaknesses

Want to get all the owners in on this! ITT: Post two units of strength and two units of weakness on your team for this season. The units can be as broad or specific as you like - 'My entire OL sucks' if you are so lucky, or 'my backup CBs rock' if only your backup CBs are any decent.

    I'll start...

    Utah - Strengths
WRs - Seems like I'm deep at this position again. Fletcher & Foley hold down the starting spots. I'm liking Poston and Vandersommen for the next two. Carlisle, the second rookie, shows plenty of promise so far. And that leaves Daluiso!

LBs - Cote's a rock on the inside, and Slaten is fast getting there on the outside. Subramanian came off a monster year pass rushing and we think we've found his eventual successor in Bauer. Two FA pickups - Horace Vance and Bennie Austin - are both starter quality material, in my opinion, and both will essentially be backups. Cole Vinson is still kicking around, too, at least for the present.

    Utah - Weakness

DL- Cleared out two starters here via trade. Orbik looks like he'll be solid, but he's not there yet and he might not be the 'really good' we were hoping for. Kerr is going to be great at one DE spot, but apart from him, the DEs are question marks. All told, a ton of youth and a lot of new faces. Could be a rough year on the DL.

CB - Kirk Marsh is going to be good in the future. But he's going to take his rookie lumps this year, and he doesn't have a whole lot around him. Besides, volatility jump aside, he's still destined to fall, in my opinion. Quite a bit. Cohesion here is going to be a big concern as well.

Our strengths are on the offensive line and defensive front 7. We have depth and quality in both areas, so injuries are not a major concern, and quality of play should be good, as these units have been together for several years.

Weaknesses are the return game and secondary. We don't really have anyone at all that can return kicks or punts, and our cornerbacks are somewhat of a liability that allows us to be outscored by high powered passing teams. We got some help at safety in the draft, but we need to find a stud CB to really set this defensive team uip the way it needs to be. The pass rush will be a major part of our defensive puzzle when it comes to stopping the pass.

Things I like from SF perspective:

      QB and OL

      Weaknesses:

Secondary and running game. It's tough to lose your starting RB for the season right before the season kicks off.

Los Alamos Strengths: I'm going to give some kudos to my punter who seems to always be putting my opponents in poor field position. My second would of course be McCumber running the ball....if we can make him some holes.

Los Alamos Weakness: I need more help in the secondary. Drafted some young guys who I think will be good someday but not this year. My return game is going to suck this year as I also really don't have a lot of kick/punt returners. Two rookies are going to be returning kicks to start the season.

          Camden-Strengths

Special Teams/Return Game - Both our kicker and punter saw big drops this off season, but Roy Garner (14.9 yards per punt return last year) and Paul Marchion (36.8 yards per kick return) are both back and in prime form and we've reloaded our collection of backups with good ST bars. Returns and coverage is something we've always done well (last year we averaged 11.2 yards more per punt return than our opponents, 18.6 yards more per kick return) and that is by design. Field position football begins with special teams.

Burt Newman - I'd just say "running game" but Newman mean so much more to our team than that. Sure he's averaged 1986 yards on the ground per year for his career, but he also lead our team in receptions last year and averaged 7.53 yards per target. We faced even more Run and Run Aggressive defenses last year and as a result Newman's yards per carry did drop, but all that Run defense opened up the passing game and QB Casey Baumgartner was able to complete 69.6% of his passes for 8.12 yards per attempt.

          Camden-Weaknesses

Run Defense - This always been weakness of ours because of the defensive game plan we run, but it has only gotten worse since the 6.4 patch. We've given up more than 5 YPC the last two years in a row now which is particularly bad news because Yuma, the only team to beat us last year, led the league in rushing average.

Defensive Age/Depth - We've spent the majority of the last few off seasons building our offense, as a result our defense has suffered. While we did trade for Tito Terrell (who promptly got hurt) this preseason, the bulk of our defense is made up of guys drafted in my first years with the team and a collection of backups chosen more for their birthdays than their on field abilities. Our Coach is rated VG at injury avoidance, our field condition is also VG, and we always spend at least 3 hours per day in TC in the weight room, so we've always managed to avoid injury problems so far but one of these days this is going to bite us in the ass.

            Washington

            Strengths

            - Offensive weapons. McGee had 2300 yards and 22 TDs last year. We've hit very strong on WRs in the draft, with Webb (59/59), Wooden (60/60), Corbett (51/51), and Russell (32/43, but 67 BPR). Rogers is the best TE in the league.

            - Secondary. Graham + Stone are a great combo at CB. Pittard + Cote aren't superstars, but they are good and really add to the cohesion.

            Weaknesses

            - QB/gameplanning - Eisenbart isn't bad, but leans towards turnovers. I've not had a good history of pass offense, but then I've never had this talent at WR. So it could be really fun, or could be a complete disaster.

            - Front seven - I'm not particularly worried with the talent on-board - Sponable, Bullock, Grabulis - but it gets kinda thin after that. And if there's an injury to any of them...

At this point I am at a loss as to my team, think they need to gel together more. Things that should work don't seem to. so here goes:

              Strengths: None ....
OK QB, TE and WR, but that hasn't shown yet in any preseason games, so our number one strength is the cheerleaders.

              Weaknesses: Everything so far.

We have many holes, RB, CB are the main ones though.

                Riders +/-

+ the defense in general, last year allowed only 17 a game and were +12 in takeaways, returned 9 starters but only because we upgraded with Allen Rose and Wendall Parrish. Cris Lowe and Mo Lyon get 1 more year experience.

+ special teams picked up CB Winfred ellison (92kr) to work with SGene Office (82 kr) and got WR (RFA) "Mac" Richardson (78/85 kr) special teams will win at least 3 games with the kicking game improving too with Peter Carlisle getting better with his hang time and hitting the corners i believe he had 12~ punts downed or out of bounds inside the 10

                - QB Tom skeen is POSSIBLY a stop gap going by his history he throws a lot of INT's Hoping he plays for a year or 2 and keeps the seat warm for Lamont Emmerson, but i think we will be more competitive this year with him there but hes not the answer

                - Coaching alowed 17 agame last year only averaged 13 a game inculding being shut out. Ive got weapons but still havent learned how to use them (i dont play SP) so every game is a teaching moment. i seem to have gotten worse with each iteration of FOF 6.4 has me vexed

                  Morgantown

Strength: D-line. While I don't have a killer NT, my LDE and RDE more than make up for it. They've been playing together for years now and have good affinity to go with their talent.

Strength: Ground game. The combination of RB Diblaiso/RB Clevinger/FB Glenn is a formidable team. It's no secret I like to run and grind out games, so we face a lot of run defense, but I commit to the run and it usually pays off.

Weakness: Passing game. My QB is getting older and wasn't signed by me. He's never quite fit in my system, but he also hasn't had the additional weapons I got him this year in WR Knight and TE Whiting.

Weakness: DBs. Things are looking up with the addition of CB Gentala, and while the unit played better as a whole last year, teams with good receivers continue to give us trouble (read: Columbus).

at least i got one part right we were more competitive

wow i think skeen heard me what a season he had and just for giggles turned out my d was slightly pourous allowing 20+ a game but the O averaged over 20 (25) for the first time in years. and isaac andrews fell off the face of the earth notching only 3 sacks

and id like to think my coaching got better but its more liek i got less worse. finding what works and gamplanning to specific opponents to get specific results. i will say i got better using the game plan adjustment screen so we have been finishing games better

WRs, or more accurately, Foley, were a strength of this team. Originally had Daluiso envisioned as the 6th man, but he outperformed everybody else and ended up as the second, since very early on in the season.

LBs - they were a good, and deep unit. Happy with this.

                            Utah - Weakness

                            DL;CB
DL was a bit of a liability at times as I juggled players around. I think getting Orbik as much playing time as I did hurt. He's very green, and may not ever be that good.

CB, definitely hit on that one. Man, we just did not have pass defense pretty much all year.

Ah, one that I did NOT foresee at all - RBs. They deserve an honorary mention.

I agree with everything here except I clearly didn't see the true weakness of my team: Special Teams. Will need to work on that.
