  • Los Alamos 2025 Draft

Los Alamos entered this draft with a lot of holes to fill and I think we managed to fill several of them with this draft.

1.8 = C Moe Baither, 44/76 (51/77) - He's going to be penciled in as the starter at center from day one and last year's starter Walt Nichols will be moved to guard. Looks like we got the anchor the center of our line for years to come. Nice camp for Moe and a little bump in potential. Wondering if I made the right move here and now I feel better.

1.23 = CB Mack Hackett, 41/69 (43/64) - We desperately needed help in the secondary as we were burned pretty regularly with the deep pass last season. Hackett will be a liability in the run defense but he's definitely got the coverage skills. Another rookie that we plan to start. Took a loss in potential which I expected but had a nice enough camp to start for us.

2.7 = WR Brian Robbins, 32/57 (35/53)- Wide receiver was another weak spot and we made an improvement here. Doesn't say much about my current receiving corps when I say he also will probably start to begin with. Another rookie that lost potential, not unexpectedly, but he'll be thrown in the mix and will start at SE, which says something about my WR's.

3.8 = RDE Todd Germany, 11/60 (13/52) - needed an upgrade at RDE and though Germany has a lot of growing to do but his main strength is in the run defense so this will get him some playing time. Hopefully training camp will bump him up some. We may need to find another end for this season though. Didn't sign until camp started so didn't move much except for the potential to go down. He'll get some preseason time to see if he helps with the run defense in time.

4.7 = RB Bennie Lewis, 30/41 (31/40)- Was looking for a 3rd running back here and Lewis will fit the bill though I was hoping for a bit better number. He does have good pass catching skills and with a little improvement he can easily move up to #2 on the depth chart. Had hoped for a little better out of Lewis but still good enough to get the carries behind McCumber.

5.30 = ILB Jeffrey Byner, 16/40 (19/40)- Needed some more depth at inside LB and hence this pick. Again was hoping for better numbers but picking LB's in round 5 you'll be lucky to get a really good player. He'll probably make the team though and we'll see how he develops. Well his potential didn't drop so he'll get his chances to see what he can do in preseason.

6.4 = QB Walt Carroll, 12/55 (12/45)- Was looking for 3rd QB here that would be a developmental project. Think we did well here as we've got Cash and Dillon in front of him so baring terrible luck with injuries he'll have time to develop and will more then likely be my summer league pick next year. Not a strong arm but a lot of his other bars are very high so we're hoping he will creep upward. His potential dropped to about what I figured it would be but had hoped for some rise in his current number.

6.7 = TE Jake Woods, 15/31 (18/34) - Took a flyer here looking to improve our TE depth but was disappointed. We'll see how he does in camp but not real confident he'll make the team. Well both numbers improved in camp while some of my veteran guys dropped so his chances are looking better.

7.3 = CB Winfred Reid, 19/64 (21/55)- Always trying to improve our secondary and took this CB on a chance as my last pick. Another CB with good looking coverage skills I'll be anxious to see if he turns out as well as I hope. Looks like I may have found a player here. If he drops no lower then 50 before he's done he'll be an improvement at some point. Just have to give him time to develop. Didn't figure that potential number would stay there but didn't take the big dive I was afraid of either. I think he'll manage to stick around for awhile anyway to see what he develops into.

I feel pretty good about most of these picks looking at 3 starters right off the bat. Time will tell if I'm right about these guys and if the others will develop and if nothing else there is some serious nickname potential with some of these guys.

Loved Baither and the nickname that I'm guessing strick endowed (hehe) on him! Your CB hackett, actually, should not be a liability in run defense. His agility score is good. I'd say there's no way he is a liability in run D. Other things might fall but RD will creep up.

Robbins was one of the few-ish WRs I liked for round 2. I think I sorta liked the other guys who went late 1st, early 2nd, but Robbins was the only one I kept on my list. Not looking forward to covering him.

We joked about it in the chat, but I crowned the Master in-game. If there's a legacy I want to leave in the OSFL then this is it. I have Flaming Genitalia and you have Master Baither. Let's see who comes out on top...errr, in a winning sense...yeah.
