Season 2041 Week 1 Utah Bees@ LOS ALAMOS MONSTERS
Game Review...Great start with 2 Interceptions within the first 1minute30. Passing game fell apart and left us 10-7 at the interval. It went from bad to worse when Scott 'The Air Raid' Syron rushed to gain a 10 point lead. Rookie kicker Santiago Buhl couldn't hit the target from the 50, 38 seconds from half time, Seasoned Kicker Darryl Blakely launched his 433rd FG attempt to show him how its done with only 3 seconds remaining.
Ten seconds into the second half, another vastly experienced 11th year FS, newcomer J.C.Lichtenberger Intercepted at our 17, and left us 27-7 without a hope. I was already thinking about next weeks visit from the Hitmen. Reality hit, we needed a miracle and it started with young WR Luis Austin catching for 19yds to start our best drive of the game with rushing yards from RB Reid, RB Simmonds and QB Owen. We got possession back quick and didn't look back, a TD from rookie RB Reid then rookie WR Mack Lamar made the 3rdQ our own leaving us tied going into the 4thQ. Utah came out with a point to prove finishing their late 3rdQ drive with a FG. Suddenly we remembered how to catch, leader Oscar Bridges joining in with an 8yd reception during another drive ending with a TD from Man of the day RB Brian Reid to put us just out of reach of the Bee's sting. A fourth Blakely FG of the game was all the buzzing they had left. 33-34.
Game MVP... RB Brian Reid, 27 Rush Attempts for 198Yrds! 7.3yds per Carry, 100% catching success... Nuff Said.
Play of the week... We are 1 point ahead, 2minutes19 on the clock, Los Alamos with the ball at thier37. 3rd and 11... If we lose possession now Utah certainly have the power to gain the ground to kick for the game. Suddenly WR Mack Lamar runs a reverse for 13yds. I was shocked, he was shocked, he's mum was shocked, the game was ours.
Flop of the week... I can't single out anyone after beating our rivals, our "best" WRs didn't show but we know our receiving isn't our strength.
OSFL Outlook... Memphis Showboats CB, Conner "Skinny Jeans" Cannida, 3 Interceptions in first half and 4 Tackles to help the Showboats win 36-9@Port City Steam.
Final Thought...
Great result obviously but early signs proved our receiving capabilities a average at best. I believe it may be dangerous to depend on RB Brian Reid too much in his rookie season. I hope we have more success with the passing next week, I believe if we don't, we may prove sitting ducks when the Hitmen from Brooklyn visit next week.
