Itīs just past week 3 of the 2053 Season

The start to the season has been a bumpy one for the Gladiators. After taking over the Wheel of the franchise in late 2052, Damien Lawrence (thats gonna be the RP Name of the Anchorage GM) watched the Team somehow stumble into Divisionals, where they crashed down hard. And what Fans called a good season ended with a very low low - and the table perfectly set for Lawrence to take the franchise into the future. And his will to do that showed when he renewed major parts of the staff. And so the gladiators sailed to new horizons.

    Well
Thats what everyone thought. But the GM very quickly showed us what his line of business was: He wanted a team to play for the prize. Not in 3 years. NOW. Draft Picks were spent left right and center to aqire players and teh result in the end was a roster that many considered not even near worth the sacrifice. And before the first game fully under his watch, Lawrence was the target of the critics.

A 3-1 preseason that still left a lot to be desired loud criticism hat declined but Optimism or Hype? Sceptical is the word that described the Fanbase.

And it didnt help the mood that after not having picks in 2nd 3rd and 4th round the first 5th rounder for the Gladiators was..... Kelly Goeas, a kicker.
    A.
    Kicker.

And then the Situation at WR and TE. The public was screaming at Lawrence to just fire Noah Zenger at WR to pay Holdout Dustin Daschle... LAwrence kept his will. Daschle went and Zenger stayed.

Now, shortly before week 4 the mood has changed. Lawrence had publically stated that from now on major investments will only be made for young players with poential to carry the franchise on their shoulders.

On top the Makeshift team he put together for this year doesnt seem very organic but somehow is working, standing undefeated after 3 weeks.

Lets focus a bit on the games, especially the last onces.
Criticism about the Zenger Decision were shut down completley after Zenger was the Player to keep the unit together, fire them up and calm them down, scoring a TD and 2 100 yard games along the way.

Another guy silencing critics was J.B. Shah. Well known as a trouble maker Lawrence signed him and last week he stepped up with 2 TD Catches.

Another Big Story last game was the Redzone Offense.
Iīll just let this stand here: 6 TDs. On 6 Visits.
Anchorage showed how to finish games.

And that all with just 328 yards? How can that be.
    Fiel position m*****f*****
3 INTs and 4 Punts into the 20 sealed the deal.
And mentioning the punts: That wasnt all that easy. WIth punter Julio Tongue injuring himself in Week 1 Kicker Goeas took over. As insiders report he felt so uncomfortable however, that the moral of the ST Unit was on the verge of breaking. And Like an Angle from the Sky Vinny Van der Linden showed up, signed 20 Hours before the last game and booted the ball like his life was on the line.

Overall this unit doesnt look like they could keep up the wins. And thats not just because of their total inability to rush the passer. The Numbers and looks just overall dont tell that story. But then again the last game gave a whole town so much life... And during preseason noone would have expeceted this start as well.

Oh and before i forget lets credit another guy with major part in that somewhat surprising start: Shawn Sullivan. He isnt playing like Jesus Reincarnate. But he does exactly what is asked of him: He doesnt make mistakes.

Also notable is that there are no indications of further movement in the roster. Slowly but surely the dealine is crawling towards us and it looks like Lawrence will take that squad to fight for what is now his franchise and his city.

So lets see what anchorage can do against 0-3 Memphis, when the Ancient Warriors face the Ancient Rulers: Gladiators vs Pharaos.

          BREAKING NEWS AT ANCHORAGE

+++ With Rookie Mack Kelly still on Practice Squad and Starting Safety Sanford Carter out for another 2 months on a broken Leg, Gladiators sign 12 year Veteran Rico Greer to reinforce their Secondary. Carter suffered a painful injury just after he seemed to have won the Staffs Favor over Larry Blackwell, who will be looking to put up good plays the next weeks to clinch the spot once again. +++

+++ After the last 3 Games showing the team breaking down Criticism has started to rise again in almost every area. Major Rumors include:
QB Griffith starting in home game against Division Rival Washington and Rookie O-Lineman Vinny Lochtefeld starting as well. +++

+++ It seems like there is major Conflict between Damien Lawrence and Henry Mills, the Defensive Coordinator. According to inside sources Lawrence is considering of solving the LB Situation for next year not with a rebuild of the unit but the release of Mills after just one year. While Mills is trying to get Lawrence to heavily invest into a rebuild at LB, Lawrence is blaming Mills for forcing players into an unfit Scheme. Lets see of results can calm the two down or they can sign a peace treaty soon. Weīll keep you posted. +++

+++ Speaking of LBs: At practice multiple totally different personell groups could be observed. And while it remeins to be seen, who will be starting against Washington and if this unit can recover, it seems to be a done deal that Nicholas Banks will be benched until further notice. Banks came over in the offseason in a Trade with the sharks and enjoyed great trust of the GM. But even with a supporter this powerful he couldnt stay in place any longer. Weīll keep you posted on him as well. +++

+++ Defensive Star ILB Freddie LaTendresse to play 100% again, despite not being taken of Injury Report, sources suggest.+++

+++ WR J.B Shah and RT Courtney Holtz have been involved in a brawl in a local bar in the night from Tuesday to Wednesday. In an official statement of the team it was said that, and we quote, "Both will have to explain themselfes, but for now no further actions will be taken as all witnesses report that they were merely defending themselfes." Both did participate in practice today, seemingly recovered.+++

+++ QB Shawn Sullivan seems to have a secure spot for the rest of the season. After the first wave of chaos due to the turn the season took, everyone on the Organisation seems to agree that they want sullivan to lead the team in a try to make a second effort towards playoffs.+++

+++ Following the bar incident and a terrible performence against washington, Offensive Tackle Courtney Holtz was expected to be hit with major sanctions. However things stayed rather quiet. Intel suggests that Holtz was fined 10.000 Dollars alongside WR J.B. Shah and - to get back to football - Holtz is also reported to be switched Back to his accustomed spot at the Left Side of the Line after holding the right side for the season up to this point.+++

+++ Although the Gladiators stayed quiet and didnt fabricate a trade since week one rumors for the offseason are already spreading. And the biggest rumor is that there are no rumors yet. It can be expected that after this offseasons shot in the blue a slow and methodical rebuild can be expected over a couple of years. Considering the rapidly shifting starters this season it appears that the season could just be a huge fight for guys to stay on the roster next year, expecially at LB and WR. Weīll keep you posted.+++

+++ Struggle at CB: Nate Brecher and Junior Villagomez seem to battle it out at the spot for 3rd string corner. The former being deemed an underrated genius in Zone Coverage, while Villagomez has made a name for himself as a naughty Man to Man guy who provides run support to his LBs. It should be fun to see those totally different guys compete for their spot in this young CB Unit.+++

+++ Mood in Anchorage seems good overall. Despite the 3 Game losing streak, the city has calmed down somewhat. And while the fans cant be expected to be extatic due to the situation these guys are ready for some football and ready to support the team over a bad season that is lurking. However Damien Lawrence doesnt want to hear any of that. "We lost 3 games so far. Weīll take it one game at a time and anything can happen in this sport. We are aiming for playoffs and that hasnt changed." +++

+++ Lets go Back to Larry Blackwell - Taking over at SS Blackwell is certainly making the most out of his chance taking 2nd Place in Tackles on the team. Overall however the safeties havent been great in Pass Coverage for anchorage, showing in the teams 26th Ranked pass defense. However, while looking at stats lets give all our fans out there a nice stat for once: Our Gladiators Forced the most turnovers of any team this season. Lets ignore that we cant cash in on them shall we?+++

+++ Nicholas Bank reported to still only recieve a greatly decreased number of snaps+++

+++ Finishing off with the injury report: WR Mealey Dixon Deactivated due to a major viral Infection. S Sanford Carter Expected to be out another 2 months with a partially broken leg. CB Earnest Dennis woke up with strange and massive headaches, sources say. His ability to play is doubtful. However, the Gladiators get back Mario Jefferson at CB, who was out since week 2 with an arm injury.+++

It was a rough Season for Anchorage. With new Staff, a new GM and an Overhauled Roster everyone was quite Curious. And despite not playing that well the team started at 3-0-1 lighting a Fire in Anchorage that slowly but surely died down.

The Roster just lacked everywhere despite having a lot of Potential in some players and cruised to the very definition of a Meaningless Season, finishing at 6-9-1 and in the lower midfield in almoste every Category.

Throughout the Season there were a lot of Rumors where the big changes happen, who was gonna retain spots on a most likely rebuilding team.

So for all our fellow fans and haters hereīs a breakdown of the Position Groups from last season to this Off-Season:

QB: Shawn Sullivan was a very unlikely guy to ever see a starting Spot again. Yet he did. And to be fair he played well. In a System that wasnt really one, behind a struggling O-Line and with just one Great Target he managed to stay mostly healthy, complete 58% of the passes and Breaking the 3000 yards by a good bit. Again: Definition of Mediocre but considering the situation he was in he played a good season. He is still under contract and so far no rumors have surfaced as to whether or not he will still be under Center in the next year.

Backup Gustavo Griffith also seems to stay employed at the Gladiators as he signed a new Contract.

O-Line: With a lot of Moves Made in the Off-Season to create a Unit that was destined to be the strength of the squad, the O-Line was the biggest disaster of the Anchorage Season. 31st in Protecting the Passer the line only showed up in the running game... And not enough there. The two Key Signings G Quentin Hernandez and G Axel Stephenson both seem to be dropped after just one year. Hernandez retiring after a tough season and Stephenson just not getting paid the big contract for the Winter of his career, despite him being the best Guy in front of Sullivan by far.

Another Retirement saw Guard Julio Lofton leave the league after 11 Years in Anchorage. Thank you for every single snap Julio.

But thats not it by far. After being fined for his behavior in the last season and Total inability to protect his qb, Tackle Courtney Holtz was traded to Port City for a 2nd and a 3rd. And thus the Top Prospect at the Line has fallen.

And Damien Lawrence didnt hesitate to go Full MAd Scientist again and gave building the Ultimate Line a second shot.
Letīs look at the Signings for the O.Line this Off-Season
Center Caleb Huiz had an Abyssmal season but still got paid out his Big Contract, staying in Anchorage. We trust in you big guy! Never give up!

Center Tommy Webb - 4th year of North Carolina - Traded from NOS

Guard Devonte Morrison - 3rd year Guard of Tolane - Traded from Yuma. Morrison was a particular interest of the GM and insiders report that the trade actually wasnt talked about with anyone in the Org since Lawrence wouldnt accept a No anyways. A polarizing way of handling Business we will see how the Chosen One of the GM performes.

Tackle Vincent Norton - 4th year of Penn State - Traded from Utah. After a terrible Rookie Season and 2 years without playing Norton gets out of Utah and comes to anchorage. Sources indicate, that he has taken it into his hands to form this new unit up already ahead of training camp and we will see if the guy uses his second chance off and on the field that Lawrence granted to him.

So thats the O.Line News so far. Lets see if the Mad man damien Lawrence succeeds with his second try at building the Line of his dreams. Sullivan would be greatful i figure.

Check in Tomorrow for TE and Secondary News.
