  • BOS Trade Block

    TE Seth Blanchard 58/58, 4th yr Asking 3rd -- maybe throw in something else late, for a playoff team.

    WR Rod Word 41/41, 3rd yr Asking 4th.
    WR Braden Kolb 32/40, 2nd yr Asking 5th.

    Young guards
    OG Jimmy Mathews 28/43, 2nd year.
    OG Dave Ishikawa 30/40, 3rd year.
    OG Bo Mathis 31/42, 2nd year.

    I think somewhere around a 6th or 7th would do for any of these.

    DE Kris Eden 40/40, 4th yr Asking 6th.
    Asking $7.44M/2yrs; last year of deal. Solid, young, pass-rushing depth.

    DT Calvin Heinz 37/45, 2nd year Asking 5th?

    OLB Devante Williamson, 52/52, 8th year
    OK, one veteran on the block. 2 years on his deal. Pretty good all-around guy, plus ST, to boot. I'm not 100% sure I want to move him, but I can for the right offer.

    I suppose instead of Williamson, another LB I could move if I don't want to carry 6 is Bill Smith.

    Updated ratings, added the two WRs, and updated asking prices.

    All players on the block get Past Injustices when cut, and they're pretty young.

      Was there ever an actual ratings cutoff for injustice guys? I've noticed guys who are 39-40+. I've seen guys at 39 not get injustices, I don't think it happens as much at 40 and even less the higher you go in rating, and this is fully developed players btw. Scouting error maybe around the cut off?

      One thing that I did take note of at an eyeballs' glance is. Take a guy who's a known injustice rated xx/38, and you cut test him. Chances are, you'll see his future drop on the cut test. If you take another player rated the same xx/38 and you know he's NOT an injustice, chances are, you'll see his ratings go up on the cut.

      With this knowledge of what my cut tests are doing based around an assumed hardline injustice rating (which isn't confirmed by any means), I factor this in when I do my final cuts.

      It's one thing I look at after my draft and how I say prior to TC/PS2 that a guy will go up with seemingly no info to go on. With this all being said, I see Alec Fisk QB at xx/58, but his cut test is xx/53. And I haven't seen many cut test rookies that drop future in the cut, drop in TC/PS2. But I do see guys who are xx/45 who gain 5 points on cut tests, drop in TC/PS2.

      You or anyone else seeing this, or am I just full of shit?

        I don't know. If you take a look at the GB roster, CB Banks doesn't have PI, while CB Robles does, and I believe Banks has the higher rating.

        So my thought is either PI isn't based on the OVR, or there's scouting error and it's cutting through that, or some combination.

        I've seen players bounce around the threshold, too (like GB's RB, Khan), so I suspect where he is (~38) is around where that line is. He had PI at one point, but no longer.

        I've also seen young players who have PI or not sometimes crash. For me the takeaway there is just that anything can happen in a camp.

        Lastly, I suspect PI has a little to with development, but I'm not sure. CB Muisal didn't have PI last year, but he does now, and he's a lot more developed. He was probably also always around the threshold anyway. FS Poston didn't have it before camp, but did at some point afterwards. Maybe he was around there too and a few more points in CUR helped him get there?

        I haven't paid attention to where ratings move after cutting them since FOF2k7 :-) I think what you're seeing there is based on how bad league scouts tend to be, and how they tend to be in the wrong direction relative to better scouts. But honestly, I don't know the difference between ratings on roster and for Free Agents. I can only guess at what that means, so I haven't bothered with considering it, lest I lead myself astray!

          FWIW, I do see ratings of the players you mention in line with the PI they're getting, but your scouting is better than mine, so there's that.

          I see Khan at 39, so he fits a guy who is on the border of "does he have it?". What are the cut tests on these guys?

          Yeah, anything can happen in TC where guys bounce all over. I see alot of the PI guys I have that are like xx/42 and are an injustice, end up dropping. Tracy Ackerman CB (who I cut, and has great "bars") fits that mold. He was a guy I held because he was xx/low40's and was PI, then he dipped about 12 points on me. It's weird.

          There seems to be a correlation between guys who drop ratings when you cut them to be better than their ratings are now vs the guys who increase when you cut them. While that seems to translate with relative accuracy through their 2nd year, I've not really looked to hard at the masses after that, they could all be moving like Ackerman.

          One day I'll learn to not drive myself mad over chasing hardlines that I think are there, that seem to have existence, but not sure if it's really what I think it is. That can sometimes lead me astray also. :)

            I'll check cutting them sometime. Ah, I see, my scout now has Banks slightly below Robles too. At one point I believe Banks was 39/39 and Robles had 38 potential not even full developed; the PI on Robles and lack thereof on Banks informed my decision-making on those two.

                Remember it's the Top 51 salaries! Kolb's salary is $1.08M. If you don't make any new contract offers this stage it seems like that will be OK.

                    I currently have Robles 40/40 -> 41/41.

                    Banks 38/38 -> 37/37.

                    Both are now PI. In Banks' case, I wonder if cutting him once or twice put me over that threshold?

                      Not sure. I would love to know if Robles was 40/40 -> 42/42 instead, would he still be a PI.

                      Without ever being able to prove what their real ratings are and I accept any criticism I'd receive by asserting it, but I get the feeling that both of them are really rated 39/39 based on those cuts and the PI, if that makes any sense based on the numbers from the cut test.
